Is stock 3:73's enough?

Wasn't sure to post this thread here or in the powertrain forum, but here it goes. I am the new owner of a 06' FX4 Screw w/ new 20's and 3:73's. Since I will be doing alot of highway driving over the next 1 1/2 years, should I stay with 3:73's? I want to go a little higher in tire size and was looking to switch to 4:10's. My stock tire size is 275/55/20 and was thinking of a AS 2" lift and maybe some 285/55's or 305/55's and don't want to lose power. I plan to immediately install a magnaflow exhaust, Edge/Troyer tuner (unsure of which yet), and CAI. Any opinions, thoughts?? Thanks

A larger tire will reduce your gear ratio. I am able to hit 19mpg @ 55mph (mind you there is a huge difference from 65 mph to 55 mph). With those mods you'll be fine and will see great mileage if you can handle the 55mph slow lane...I've had a truck flip me off so I rode his *** for hours, he would swerve to see if I was still behind him. I got around 20.4 mpg drafting behind him @ 57-60mph (you must use cruise control and manipulate the speed with the CST +/- button on your steering controls).

Hope this helps.

I have 4.56 gears and havent lost but 1 MPG in gas mileage. I am running a 32" inch tire now. I say go with the 4.10's you will notice alot of performance increase and little gas mileage loss.

I think you will be fine with the stock gears and 33's. If you are gonna spend the money to install 4.10's, I would go ahead and get 35 inch tires and 4.56 gears.

In most cases going from 3.73 to 4.10 is not worth the money.
The general rule is go two steps to notice any real difference (4.56)
