Bedrug installation question

Never mind - The last line of he instructions say to NOT place the velcro on the plastic.

Ignore the question.

I searched through various pictures but didn't find an example that answers the question posted below.
If I pull the bedrug flush with the edge of the tailgate there is no hump over the gap between the tailgate and bed, but the glue side of the velcro strip will be on the plastic cap that covers the top of the tailgate. If I place the end of the bedrug so the glue side of the velcro is on paint I will have a hump in the bedrug over that gap.

Is it okay to place the velcro on the plastic tail cap?

I'll go proceed with the attaching of the bedrug but will leave the tailgate until I see some responses. I've already attached the velcro to the bedrug and now just need to start pulling off the plastic and sticking it down.

Thank you.

"Do not secure it to the plastic tail cap !!!!

The end of the Bedrug will stop butt up against the bottom of the tail cap. It is designed to have a hump in it when the gate is closed. Just make sure the hump sticks up and does not go down between the tailgate and the end of the bed...If fhave had a Bedrug in every F-150 (4) I have had in the past 6 years...Even the Lightning.....

Any reason why/why not? Mine just sorta learned to go down in there and I haven't seen any problems...yet. Since you've had em in multiple trucks wondering what you know about that.

Im curious about that also. I had a Bedrug in my Lightning and I pushed the "hump" down. At first it took a little more effort to close but no problems. I figued pushed down it would also act like a dirt guard. I plan on getting one for my FX4 so please explain the hump up deal

Add me to the list of those who pushed the flap down and wonder why it should be up!

I suppose there is no right or wrong way with this issue. Mine just naturally folded up the first time I closed it after installation and I figured it was so all the dirt and junk that can get up into that area didn't stick to the underlining of the Bedrug, or so that it didn't get pinched.
Maybe they are like belly buttons....some stick in....some stick out...
