Woah!!! Good thing it blinked the 2nd time! The first blink means the rockets are armed... If you hadn't re-engaged OD within 30 seconds, they would have launched!

mine did the same thing, after that the left front tire fell off.

no but seriously, i was towing a 5k lbs. trailer to pismo with o/d off, and the o/d light kept flashing for atleast 20 mins. everything is fine now, i think the tranny was jest getting too hot.

Maybe it does that to remind you that od is off.

On my '98 a flashing O/D light meant that your transmission threw a code and that light (when flashing) is the idiot light.

Mine did it once and it was a bad selenoid. Could be a bad sensor or anything. Take it to the dealer and have it checked out.

If I'm in Drive and going downhill where the tranny is holding the truck back, eventually the little red light comes on and the truck switches back to O/D.

I asked the same question a while ago and no one seemed to know why. My dad has an 05 FX4 and his doesn't do this.

I've never had this happen, but you sure have me curious about what this is.

Please let us know what the dealer says.

Just to make sure we're talking about the same light - You mean the little red light on top of the dash, right? The theft light? If so, this doesn't have anything to do with anything else in the truck except the PATS system. Like I said, every now and then, mine lights up and stays on after starting my truck, but I haven't gotten around to figuring out why yet.
