I also use Royal Purple with a normal NAPA filter. Next time I will probably get a K and N filter. I have also been using a filtermag for the last 20000 miles. I have also used penzoil synthetic once in the recent past. The truck just did not feel as smooth with it in for a couple thousand miles. I can have Royal purple in for about 5000 miles and it still responds like it is new. Just changd my oil again and I think I will try to use it for 6000+ miles with one change of the filter.

I have always gone with 3K betwen changes even with syn but my mindset has changed some now. I think I will look at 5K. Im getting ready to do my first change on the BMW when I get home so good time to start. 10K is just a bit much for me. BMW reccomends Castorol as well dont they? Think it says it on my oul cap, hmmmmm.

Cant wait to get home and install my Edge and Volant that has been waiting on me for over a month (and misc stuff)

I thought I read some where that your oil filter doesn't even start working good until it has 3,000 miles.

Mobil 1 5W-30, Motorcraft filter, every 3K - 4K depending on my driving extremes during that interval.

I just used the Pennzoil Platinum synthetic in my wifes car, with the Motorcraft filter, and so far so good.

After reading about all the filter problems, and the noise on startup with other filters because of back anti-drainback valves, I dropped the WIX and went back to Motorcraft. I was having that start-up noise after the truck sat for about 4 days.

In my Bronco, I'm using plain old Valvoline until my supply of it dries up. Then I'll switch to the Pennzoil Platinum in it also. I'll stay with the Mobil 1 5W-30 in the F150 because it's been awesome for the last 32K. Mileage on the highway has been 17 - 18 mpg @ 78 mph with cruise set. No complaints.
