Edge problem?

I been using level 2 for a week now no problems up until today. I was accelerating onto the freeway and my truck went into engine failsafe mode. What the hell? I read the DTC and it said something about throttle something. I dunno I was pissed so I cleared the DTC and returned my truck down to level 1. I did notice I was hearing a HUGE drone from about 2000rpms. Anyone?

Have you played with your intake lately? Possably a loose connection from your mass airflow sensor under hard acceleration?

I was in on the first mass buy. I've been running level 2 99% of the time. No problems so far. I have downloaded updates.

Dang, I havent screwed with my intake at all lately. I also downloaded the updates before I installed it. I am now on level 1 and I like it alot. The shifting is awesome! So now I have a $400 gauge thats makes my shifting nicer! Sweet........not.

I'd call Edge, I haven't thrown a code at all and I live on level 3. I'd say it is either:

A) A coincidence and something else is already wrong and the Edge is making it more apparent (tuners will make anything wrong show up pretty clearly) or

B) A defective unit.

Good luck.

Ha. This sucks. I was kinda curious on why Ford doesnt have like a engine failsafe mode switch where when you are cruising on the freeway it would shut down 4 cylinders and let you cruise using less gas? I know Cadillac does this already. But yea, I am super bummed on the edge. I think I might go back to the hypertech.

Thats not an engine failsafe mode.

Have you tried level 2 or level 3 again to see if it does it again? It could of been some freak thing. Try unloading the tune, and re-loading.

yea I would try it again. If it doesnt work reset it like Thumper said. then if all is bad send is back. I dont know wat engine failsafe is but does it affect your truck? Hey if the edge still works but you still got that light on Id say who cares leave it in level 2

My truck has done this to me twice since ive had my edge. When i read the code it said something about the throttle actuator or something (i have written down somewhere). And it went into reduced power mode (failsafe?). Both times all i did was clear the code and it ran fine afterwards. Mine only did it when i was just barely pressing on the gas not hard acceleration.

Hmm, maybe a bad throttle body and the Edge is just bringing the problem out. Im just guessing.

I would try loading level two back on and see how long it lasts. Mine did not do it again until a month or so later (about 1500 miles).
