Which is better? Aluminum or nylon intake?
I am considering getting an intake specifically K&N and was wondering if the aluminum tubing (77 series) or the nylone tubing was better? I found this about the nylon tubing...
"Nylon structure dissipates heat better than competitors aluminun or steel structures for a cooler intake charge and MORE power"
The polished aluminum does look better although it is more expensive.
What do you think??

When I had the K&N on my '05 I bought the nylon one instead of the 77 series for that reason alone. While the 77 looks alot better IMO the air charge going into the intake would be much hotter because of the metal tube thus causing loss in HP. I rarely had my hood up to show off anyways and with your truck being high off the ground who's gonna see it. The K&N was a very easy install and I did notice a slight gain in performance, but no increase or decrease in MPG.

If you need shocks I'd say go with the Fox shocks, if you don't need them right now I'd go with the K&N. My .02
there is only one intake that i am even considering the JLT intake adds 30hp/55tq but requiers a custom tune by a xcal2 and looks soooo good that big huge airfilter right in the middle of the engine compartment

The vinyl is supposed to be better for heat dissapation resulting in cooler air intake temps = more power. Thats why most of them are in vinyl (Volant, Airaid, K&N has one, etc). Personaly, I went with the Airaid. I got a seat of the pants bump in perfomance and it cleans up the engine bay. Good combo with your Edge as well.

I can get a pretty good deal on the 77 series K&N should I go for it? Or just get the regualar K&N or Airaid? I can get a better deal on the 77 series than any other intake
