Ford Warrenty

Just wanted to get as many opinons as I can before moving forward.

Some of you may have read my paint issues a few days ago (scratches, etc.) on my new Fx4. What is really getting to me is that my dealership is now leaning on the side of not doing anything. The only hope I have is the right upper cap has touch up paint on it and has been buffed down to the point of burning an area around it. As soon as my camera batteries charge I will post a picture. My question is that if touch up paint (confirmed by 2 independant local body shops) was used by the dealership and "buffed out", would this not void the warrenty in some way and tech. result in a used truck? I know it sounds almost silly, but they pissing me off at this point not wanting to make things right so I guess I'll have to be an *** about it. What do you guys think?

Thanks

did you do a walk around before you signed the contract? They can always say you took the truck to a shop or you touched it up yourself...

I gave a quick overview, it was something caught when I got home. I tried to take pictures but the reflection is too bad to see anything. I am just wondering if you can tech. sell a vehicle as new if its been touched up with paint and buffed.

If you didn't note any damage prior to signing on the contract, it's their word against yours.

I had to keep on there butts to fix the scratchs in my truck but they did and even paid for the rental while it was fixed. I purchased a demo so it had 8k on it and they tried to say that the scratches are part of the deal in the demo. So I told them no deal and they decided to fix it to make the sale. I did how ever have to bring it back so they could fix it but the was just a matter of making the appointment with their body shop.

As a dealer, that approach would pi$$ me off to no end!

First, you're in my showroom busting my butt about how you're beside yourself regarding the condition of your truck. But then you imply that if I throw a free accessory at you you'll "make nice" on the paint issue. The translation I would get is that you really aren't all that broke-up about your truck after all and you're just looking for a freebie!

What you're really getting right now is a serious lesson at the "School Of Hard Knocks" -- mainly, don't sign off on a new vehicle and drive it away unless you are 100% happy with its condition!

Take your lesson to heart, commit it to memory so you don't repeat the same mistake with your next new vehicle purchase, and for God's sake stop badgering the "F" out of the dealer for what really is YOUR problem, not HIS!

(Not trying to be an a-hole to you -- just trying to be honest!)

I was not being serious about asking for a "freebie". People sign off on new over valued vehicles everyday that chances are something is wrong. You can't possibly examine everything before a purchase. As far you telling me to stop badgering the "F" out the dealer because its my problem is where you start making my thread more "interesting" to read...I suppose. I have spoken to the dealer 3 times. Once when I purchased it (my best friend). 2nd time when I reported the issue(s) and a 3 time to report local estimates which he requested I do. Anyway, thanks for chimming in.

I bought a new car years ago that the dealer got from another dealer . Sign the contract and 2-1/2 years latter the roof of the car started fading . Went back to the dealer and found out that they had repainted tne roof of the car not telling me about it. They repainted the the roof under warranty. I feel for you hpoe yor dealer makes it right with you but don't try for freebies instead makes you look like a deadbeat

No problem -- and thanks for not getting your nose all out of joint by what I have to say!

My personality is such that if you don't want to know what my opinion is, then you'd better not ask me. Some people call it blunt, I call it honest. I'm not the type of person who just tells people what they want to hear, and some folks get all bent out of shape by that when all you're doing is honestly answering their question!

Heck, you get bent out of shape yourself from talking to yourself in the mirror!

Ford's new car limited warranty states that paint is only covered for defects in workmanship or materials. Whatever the lot boy did to your truck doesn't count, and it will be on the dealer to fix it. Good luck.

What you say is true. I finally just decided to say the hell with it, because its a truck after all and I will most likely get scratches that you can see on a black truck, but I am going to try and get that buff / touch up place fixed because its on the cab. I wonder if the whole cab would have to be repainted? The only reason I even posted this stuff is because the first time I ran into something like this. Anyway thanks to all for responding.

I fixed the scratch in far left inside wind shield by getting a new safty sticker and putting on it. haha I feel better now. I think I might get the truck a little dirty this weekend. Its something about buying something new.

By the way does anything 25K was a good deal on a FX4 Reg cab 4WD 5.4L with 24 miles and maybe suggest some mods to make it all better?
