How about one of those tire dollies they sell at Pep Boys? They are put under the tires of a car so the vehicle can be slid sideways in a garage.

I must have missed that part.

ESP is on the blink today.

Anything you put under that bike to make it slide is going to do exactly that while you are driving as well. If you're having to lift the bike on and off of it at point A and again at poing B to keep that from happening... you gain nothing. But if that's what you want, they make these handy dandy little deals that you can place under furniture and whatnot for moving without pickup. They have a teflon-like disc on the bottom and a foam pad on top for grip to whatever you set on it. You can get them in different diameters and they're only a half inch thick or less.

bigger truck...or a smaller bike....

I agree that anything you put under there to help slide it around will probably be a problem when you're driving, even with tie downs.

Here, all you need is air! Place the pad under the tire, hook up the air line and float it.

Usually you can also have your tailgate down when towing a travel trailor. Sometime the propane tanks will get in the way of the gate so I dunno what you have. I know I have put my dirtbike in the back with my tailgate down and I towed out my friends toybox to the desert with no problem.
