My 04's center caps on my wheels are starting to get little cloudy spots on them (2 of 4 I think) sort of creeping in on the edge under neath the plastic surface so you cant just wipe it off or whatever.

What causes this and is there anything you can do?

I expect the answer is, dont know what causes it, nothing you can do.

Just wanted to check.

 

You didn't say which type of wheels you have. Each type has a differenent center cap. My guess would be clear coat separating from what ever is underneath.

 

Mine are doing the samething.

 

Mine is the XLT, just the steel wheels with the centercap...

Mine did the same thing and they replaced them under warrenty. Mine were the Lariat wheels, but shouldnt matter.

 

My front 2 are doing that also. I think it has to do with brake dust. That, my cowl comming apart and my tailgate lock make for needing a appoitment.

Im going to have them replace them but Im changing wheels anyways. Figgure its good to have it I ever put the stockers on to sell it.
