Exhaust Install day... and I'm SO ANGRY!!

So today I go to get my #16614 Maggie exhaust put on (SIDO rear exit), and I was told I have the widest stock trailer hitch they have seen yet!!! It has these huge side arms that wrap around to connect to the frame. There was no way that the Cat back was going to make it. I know some of you guys have managed to get it put on, so I am jealous of you...

I Don't really like the way that the side exit Maggie system looks, because I would want to to be on both sides, so I don't think I'm taking that route. I could go with the Flowmaster, and bend the pipes however I want to, but I'm afraid of that obnoxious sound that some of you talk about. Lastly, I don't want to lose my **** on what I already paid out for this system!! Worse is that I'm outside of the 30 day return policy b/c I couldn't get it put on right away.

The only other thing I can think of.. is to just buy the muffler, and do a custom bent system.. but that's another $450 or so.. so that is going to be my last choice.

Any ideas??? or directions I could take?? Any takers of the open box, non used system?

I've never heard of that before.... I was told the only problem was the fuel lines but this could be fixed by tying them out of the way. I think they are just to lazy to do it. I would definitely take it to a different exhaust shop and get a second opinion. Good luck and keep with what you want.

Sell yours on ebay. Should be able to get most of your money back on it.

Try sending your B/F with your truck and see if he gets the same answer.

Or try another muffler shop.

I had a problem on my install I took it to the exhaust shop I deal with, they made 2 brackets for the pipes to weld to off the hitch.

I paid about $100 for the muffler I have now and they charged me $75 for the piping I believe it was. That's an absurd price.

I was told this by a friend who works at Magnaflow. It's not BS, Ford put a huge hitch on this truck. It can cause a problem on install. I believe they used to say it wouldn't fit on a truck w/the stock hitch.

I have heard all of the below comments...

Roushlimited: I'm really not thinking that they are too lazy.. but the arms on this hitch are huge! If you look at it from the rear end of the truck, they actually angle outward, so I can see how straight out the back would be a problem. I was under the impression though that ford dealers have contracts with different hitch companies.. so all fords might not have the same factory hitch. Isn't that right?

Gotbeer: I have never sold anything on ebay.. but I could try that if all else fails.

Screw2004: if I can't find a way out of this.. I will find a price shipped for you and send an email your way, first dibs.

Budha05STX: Send my boyfriend instead.. lol. .that was a good one.

KiCk *** FX4: The setup was from Hottexhaust.com.. I ordered it April 19th, and you have to return within 30 days of receiving.. so I'm out of the timeframe. Yes it was for an F150.

FX4 Matt: If your exhaust is Magnaflow, what material were the brackets? Don't yell at me for asking.. but I didn't think you would weld Aluminum to stainless??

Can you weld aluminum to stainless??????????

Josiah... was all the tubing for $75 from the cat back? That seems really cheap. Was it cause you knew someone there?

SnowmaNick: I have also heard this.. and it says on the website, that it may not fit if you have a stock hitch... But so many of you have done it.. I just figured I would take my chance and come really close, but not have a problem.

Thanks to all.. Keep em' coming...

They're messing with you.

I have the Maganaflow SIDO and I have an 05 with the tow package.

To get the maggie brackets to work in the back you need to off set them from the frame. I used four stanless steel washers to do this and then later had a shop weld it, even though it was still extremely tight. Fits like a champ. I believe I have pictures in my gallery.

Nope, you would need to use carbon steel to weld to the hitch. You could then use an exhaust bracket to attach the pipe to the new bracket. Be careful welding to the hitch, I am sure that the steel in the hitch has been heat treated. Welding could cause localized weak spots, due to the change in heat treatment.
