I also disconnected the battery and will let the truck re-learn having the factory filter in. I dont think I will be putting the K&N back in for now.

For what its worth turning the brakes fixed my squeak and having the new driveshaft makes it feel like a new truck, much smoother from a stop and no unwanted vibration.

I will not be going back to that dealer just on principal. The whole experience just leaves me with a bad taste in my mouth. They refused to lift the charge for the diagnosis of the ping because in Fords opinion the problem was the air filter.

The dealer just ripped you off. If the stock air filter doesn't fix the ping there is a tsb to fix it. TSB is 06-03-03. They change the plugs. The K/N doesn't cause ping, the Ford crap tuning does. My dealership did the tsb with my k/n dropin right there in the intake. I would demand they fix it if I were you. I would also demand a refund for the diagnostic as they are full of siht. What a quack.

Oh man, where were you 4 hours ago! Next time I have the truck in for service, at another dealer, I will point out this TSB if I still have a problem, thanks.

Sorry bout that. I was at work. At least you have the scoop now.

It also helped me that the dealership that fixed my truck is where a bud of mine is the mechanic that works on it.

I just had the exact same thing after I re oiled my K&N.. to much oil so today I went to my dealer and they asked me if I had oiled that K&N I run in the last while, when I said yes about 10K miles ago he suggested I clean the MAF, so I did that with a q-tip and some isopropal alcohol and no more ping.. now I just have to figure out if my ECT sensor is reading right.

I picked up some electronics cleaner over lunch today and I am going to pull my MAF and give it a once over tonight to see if that helps. Thanks for the suggestion.

Well, the MAF looked like it just rolled off the line when I pulled it out to clean. I gave it a shot of the cleaner anyhow. The ping is slightly improved this week on 89 octane with the stock filter back in place. I guess I live with a slight ping until I get in to a better dealer for service.

Are you tuned for an 89 octane? I'm pretty sure most of us all run 87 octane with no problems....octane issue?

I was trying the higher octane to attempt to cure the ping. I do not run a tuner.
