33's vs 35's when offroading..

Hey guys i was wondering about the performance aspect between 33's and 35's. I dont go offroading a lot but i do and want some beefier tires anything than the stock generals.. I only have a 2/12 autospring on my truck and dont really have the money for a 6" lift. Would you guys say 33's and 35's perform about the same offroading and the real difference is just size?

Usually there is a difference in width when going from 33's to 35's so take the increased footprint into account. Footprint has a lot to do with performance, especially width. Your approach/departure angles, axle height, etc will be affected by tire size so bigger is usually better. 2" in tire size will do a lot more for you than an extra 2 inches in lift.

yea i hear ya on that. I would like to maybe just get the rancho 4" lift but that wont be for a while. So i was thinking maybe 33's would be the way to go with my AS. But i guess im trying to look a little down the road.

josiah's got some good advice there the 35's will give you more clearance flexibility than 33's- width wise, sure you're footprint can change but J, i've got 33x12.5R18muds and you've got 37x13.5R20 muds..thats 4" in height to 1"+ width* lol i'd add though, that you also need to account for suspension flex, play- with the 35's, and only a 2.5" as leveling kit, you are eating up alot of wheel well, manuverability that may be needed while offroading- so in that instance, a 33 would provide more flexibility for rough terrain- win some you lose some- i s'pose unless you are doing some hardcore offroading, you'd be fine with either the 33-or 35's

4" in height to 1" (37x13.5) in width but I agree everywhere else

Bigger isn't always better - look for the duct taped rack and pinion thread. Keep it simple and go with the AS and 33's.

Now whether things will hold up is another story.
