I lowered my old F-150 2WD, but lowering your 4x4 sure is unique!!!

Thanks Captain Obvious! What I meant is the wheels/tires stick out like a 4x4. The backspacing is wrong, and there's too much sidewall on the tires. It doesn't look good at all. I was just saying it a little more gently before, but I guess I needed to club you over the head with it.

Well, I still have the stock wheels, but am not interested in putting them back on. I will leave it as is for now and see what the next few months brings as I am always changing something or the other...Who knows, maybe come Fall I may put another lift on it...

Absolutly NO rubbing issues, and the ride and handling is remarkable....
I had 2.5" AS's in the truck with 295/70/17 Nittos before dropping it so the difference is large to say the least.
I got tired of climbing into it in its old stance, and I take my father who is not in good health with me a lot and he really had a problem getting into it..
Besides, there are not too many lowered 4x4's in my area, and since I am involved in the aftermarket I figured it would be a good ice breaker so to speak with potential customers...So far, so good....Thanks all....

Your 285/70/17's don't rub. Can I ask why? what's the backspacing on your wheels? I'm curious cuz I have 285/75/17s on just the stock stance and mine rub. I want it to go away, but have been too lazy to go buy the leveling kit and put it in. But if it doesn't rub... that's the coolest.

Right on Marc, like the look, although I do agree about rims/tires. Has a bit of a nascar truck look. Where did you get the DJM drop arms and can you explain what de-arching the rear leafs mean? Did you retain the stock shocks all around?

To each his own and Marc I do like your truck but I've noticed alot of people on this site lower their 4x4's. Is there a particular reason for this or did you guys buy your trucks and decided that maybe you shoulda bought a 2wd and decided to lower it because of that? I mean the 4x4 is useless now right... or is it? I'm not trying to flame anybody or their trucks it's just I've seen alot of it and was wondering why.

Well, it was sort of a double edge sword for me. In hindsight, I should have bought the 2WD, but I liked the FX4 rims and it was the only model that was a black on black Screw on the lot that I was looking for, even though I could have swapped the wheels if I waited out for the color combo I was looking for. I do plan to lower though, and certainly does not render the 4X4 useless, but does adversely affect ground clearance. I guess what I'm saying is, had I put more thought in my purchase ahead of time, I would have had the 2WD since lowering was in the cards. But I have what I have and as RoushMarkLT has proven, who actually needed a 4X4, lowering the 4X4 works great.

Thanks man... that pretty much answered it. I thought it probably had something to do with the options but wasn't sure. I thought maybe I missed the memo on lowering 4x4's.

Anytime There have been some historical dissers in the past who shake their heads as to why lower the 4X4, but there are certainly plenty of those who lift their 4X2

I like t, wheels tires and all. I would remove the stickers, but I can see why you would want to keep them.

Makes no difference to me, who are we to tell someone what to do to their truck. I do however find it silly to say a 2wd can go any place a 4wd can, the claim is rediculous.

Maybe you are missing the point. It might go there, just can't get out.
