can I tow?
can I tow?
Hi,
I just pickup up my 2006 F150 this morning. By the time I get home from work, it will have around 100 miles on it. The dealership, both the sales man and the service manager, say it's okay to pull a trailer with two harleys in it to tennessee in the morning. The owners manual says wait until 500 miles to tow. What do you guys think?

We pulled a 5x8 U-Haul behind our Expedition with less than 100 miles on it from Georgia to Texas and back. I wouldn't worry about it, just don't sue me if Murphy hates you and something happens to your truck.

Given what you're towing (a trailer with two motorcycles in it can't be that heavy), I doubt you'll run into any problems. I'd kinda lean towards following the manual's recommended break in procedures otherwise, vary your speeds, accelerate easily, etc, and lock out overdrive if you're towing in hilly areas or something where the transmission is wanting to hunt between 3rd and 4th gears. Otherwise, smooth sailing.
