can a programmer effect the cam phaser?
I had a problem with my truck in the end of March and the dealer blamed it on the programmer. I had taken the programmer out about 9 months before the problem. Another guy had the same problem. We both had the cam phaser replaced and now i have another guy that had the same problem and he had to get the computer replaced and the cam phaser. Do you think this has something to do with the power programmer or is it the excuse they are using??

They don't do the cam phaser tsb anymore.

If they're replacing the phasers because they're noisy, no.
If you're getting check engine lights and/or rough running problems because the cam timing isn't advancing or retarding properly, maybe. But that's grasping for straws. |
the only company i know that can reprogram the phaser is SALEEN. they get to do it for their s281.

What the dealer is actually saying is the power programmer is making the cam phasers break and it sometimes can ruin the computer. Is that just a line or is there some truth to that?

Not true, just got my truck back on Tuesday for the camphaser. I don't have the TSB number off hand (so it could be different), but they replaced the intake manifold, some valve cover gaskets, timing assembly, timing chain, some other things.. and the noise is gone. The Reciept referenced a TSB number... runs great. |

They JUST did the repair on my old truck, after I traded it in. Who told you they don't do the repair anymore?

If it has mechanical failure, then yes they will change it. Did I mention they don't do it just for noise? |

Exactly, they only replaced it because it was so damn noisy.
