Would I have to....
Would I have to....
I'm wanting to add a 3" body lift on top of my 6" procomp lift. I have seen some guys do it and it looks awesome!
I know they haven't upgraded the brakes or gearing while running the 37s / 38s, so my question is, do you really have to? Or is this just something that would be recommended?
I'm looking at adding the additional 3" with the Kumho 38x15.50x18. Any and all input is appreciated!

yeah gearing is neccessary......unless you want your tranny to die and have no perfroamcne and no gas mileage. brakes...would the smart thing to do....but expensive...
im doing the same lift....already got the parts......and im re-doing my gears....
so basically yes u have to re-do your gears

i have the 38's and i highly recomend u re-gear and re-do the brakes, i am re-gearing my truck from my 4.56 gears to a 4.88 in about a week, also i have powerslot rotors at my house waiting to be installed, the brakes now suck so i would def recomend u upgrade them 2.
Gears? Eh, if you have the money it will save a little tranny life, gas, but the gas is circumstantial. However, even with very heavy 37" mud grapplers my power is great, however I've also modded my engine. Tranny stress? To be honest you are putting more stress when you tow a small trailer, even an atv in the bed. I have decided not to regear after feeling little difference between my 37's and stock rubber (it's there but it's not too bad, especially at WOT). I've felt the difference in trucks with exhaust only who go up (brand new FX4) and those guys should regear, best thing to do is go test drive a truck on the dealers lot that is as close to the tire weight/size as you're stepping into.
Brakes, yes. I'd upgrade your brakes, my brakes are taking a hit more than anything, I'm running ProAct Ceramics with DuraLast rotors.
I should be making a new video with my recent escapades, tonight I was unable to free a stuck blazer resting on his frame in muck, mostly due to lack of proper equipment (my strap and chain are with someone else atm). We used what we had (worn out 3"x20 keeper strap, smaller gauge chain than we'd have liked), warned him of the dangers and asked if he'd help replace my tailgate, thankfully it hit his truck. The chain snapped, busted his window and dented his tailgate, it's on video. He used a get out of muck free card with triple-a, they winched him out for free. So that was my night, ended early. Disappointed in my truck tonight to say the least, but I know I'd have freed him with my other strap and chain.

I would get the 37's and wait untillyour current brakes wear down, and if you really think you should upgrade, do it then...
Also I think our trucks look badass with a suspension and body lift...

josiah how are your brakes with the duralast rotors and ceramics?? and how much did it cost?? .....also something i havent asked u....you have 37's.....on a 6 inch lift....your coilovers are cranked how much and hows the rear end with that size tire?
Thanks for the input guys. I'm worried more about the brakes than anything. I've already had mine replaced at 10,000 mile with my 35s. I think i'm going to take the plunge on monday and do it. We'll see how it goes!
My coilovers are not cranked. I rub but I manage. One fenderflare has already cracked and a large peice fell off the inside. I am just going to trim and do a little cranking, probably no body lift for me. My brakes still suck, but my rotors are not drilled nor slotted, and my pads are nice, but they were not meant to handle 37's. I'd suggest a larger rotor or slotted at the least. The rear end is fine, it's the front that doesn't do well.
