Going to the dealer, need imput

At high speeds braking I can feel the vibration. Warped rotors perhaps?

A couple of my lights are out on the control panel arm rest.

Have to replace the panel for a recall.

Does the pcm reflash help mileage? Can I make a dealer do this?

Also have a coupon for a 99 cent oil change. What is the catch?

Are brakes covered under warrentee?

How much can you get a dealer to do before they try and bill you?

Thanks

My '04 just got new front rotors, calipers, and pad put on under warranty for warped rotors. The rotors on the '04's suck and Ford has issued a TSB that calls for them to be replaced under warranty. Are you under warranty still? If they give you hassle, tell them to look at TSB 05-21-19.

Thanks for that number.

I'm going to use it tomorrow!

Hopefully you have a good dealer because Im almost positive that brakes are considered a wear item and only 'covered' up to 12,000 miles.

PS: I had this same TSB performed on my 2004, and it worked like a champ! Good luck!

I just had mine done, under warranty, at 25K miles no hassles. TSB seems to override the "wear item" point.

I think Bug is right. Mine was just done at 30,000 miles.

Does this TSB also cover early 05's or is it only 04's? I have an early 05 (build Nov 04 i believe) and have a similar issue at 15k miles.

PCM reflash

I had my computer reflashed on my 2005 5.4L last fall, and yes, I improved my average gas mileage by about 2 mpg highway. The reflash is a Ford TSB issue and should be covered free under warranty. There is a forum thread on this site that lists the issues the reflash is intended to solve. I used the suggestions in the thread to explain my problem. The dealer was more than happy to make the adjustment. I told them the engine idled rough at startup, which it did, acceleration was slow and sluggish with a long hesitation when I pushed the go pedal, and gas mileage was poor.

After the reset gas mileage improved, the engine idles smoother, and acceleration is much improved without the initial hesitation. I recommend the reset. I also suggest trying to explain the problem to the dealer in a matter of fact way. I took a copy of the TSB, which I also found on this website along, but it was not needed. If you sound like you know what you are talking about you should have no problem; as long as the dealer is reasonable.
