Do you mean screw the actual wire? How do you screw it? Crimping a lug on the end of the PIE ground? What does that mean? Please explain this a little more.

Sorry about the pic Guigster, but Doo got it Also like Doo mentioned, you can install your PIE to your cigarette lighter or accessory plug on the side (i read on this forum that PIE needs a constat power source). i'm pretty sure on the accessory plug it is pink/gray that is 12V and black that's ground. On the cigarette lighter the 12V source is the blue/white and black is ground again. You should make sure on this with a voltage meter so you don't blame me after it blows up on your face Here's another pic of that tap-splicer i found on this forum.

rocky, when grounding the PIE...i think it's just easier tapping into a ground wire..but it's your choice.

Thanks for the splicer pics guys. I've never seen one before. Not sure how you work it, but I guess it'll be self-explanatory when I get it in my hands. I went to Radio Shack tonight and the guys was clueless and didn't know what I was talking about. He tried to tell me where a wiring harness was.

You can get them at Napa ( I get them at Cresent Electrical Supply, the 3M version ) They are on the splice and wire stand on the floor.

If I crossed ref the 3M part number ( 952X / MNG14-250-DMIX ) correctly, they are Napa P/N 784387.

These are just the T-Taps, and you will need Male spade terminals as well.

Those are the Blue colored ones, which will take 14 & 16 AWG wire.

The usage is :
Where the U spade is at, that is where the wire you are tapping on to goes, and you close and crimp it with pliars. The end where the plastic hinge is at, is where the Male spade terminal plugs into. Allows for you to remove the wire you tapped on, without needing to remove the T-Tap.

Here is a picture of when I had the PIE installed ( prior to getting the Visteon Sirius rcvr and installing that instead ) in my '06.

Boat loads of room ( this is the bracket set for the factory Siruis rcvr :

Few other pictures in my Interior album if you want to see my Sirius StarMate Replay, when it was installed.

Red Line = Wire you want to take power or ground from. Wire lays into the channel this direction.

Pink Arrow = This is where a male spade terminal end would plug in, once the T-Tap is closed and pressed shut with pilars.

Can someone please verify the wire for the switched hot. The one that corresponds with this thread that people say is green/yellow is more like dark green/orange.

https://www.f150online.com/forums/sh...t=Dash+Removal

I see green/yellow, green/white and green/orange in there.

Installing now. Quick answer appreciated.

Guigster, do you have a multimeter? The wire shown in the pic I posted earlier is the one you want to use but if the color varies as you are saying you should use a multimeter to find the switched hot. turn key on test, test also when you turn key off & open the door. Maybe you figured it out by now.
