I chickened out.

I didn't end up getting the magnaflow 16612 kit. I ordered it and then cancelled the order. I couldn't get myself to drop that much money on an exhaust, so I went to a muffler shop in town another member had luck with and had a magnaflow welded in place of the stock piggie. Sounds better and cost way less! Now I can spend my hard earned dough on more mods!

I saw an old timer that came in for an oil change and overheard him asking for him but the girl at the counter said he had retired. I didn't catch his name, Terry maybe?

No, I think Terry is his son. Terry already had a shop in Cleburne and then bought the one in Burleson. His retired father came out of retirement to run it for him. Sounds as if he retired again.

Yeah, the whole thing cost me 140 bucks, fairly reasonable. I didn't get a tip, they didn't have anything I liked.

BTW, that has to be the fastest derailment of a thread ever. Can't get any faster than the second post. Sorry about that.

So, you got a SISO then and they patched in a piece to fill the space.

Affirmative. Still sounds nice and deep. No drone either. I'll do some research on a tip and order one. Then have it welded on.

Which muffler did you get?

I've been kicking around a Magnaflow, but like you... I think the price for that bolt on system is insane. I did the math on their muffler and tips seperate and it left $300+ for their welding and few feet of stainless tubing.

I've been thinking of doing a turndown just to not have the hassle of keeping a tip clean. May make it louder in the cab than I want though.

Stealth,
How much was it to have the shop install your Magnaflow? How much was the Magnaflow itself?
Thanks

The muffler was overpriced compared to what I'd of gotten online, but they priced the muffler at 125 bucks. The total to have the old pig dropped and have the new muffler welded inplace was 140 bucks and change. Very reasonable I think.

That's exactly what I did to my truck. Sounds great and costs a hell of a lot less. Now I just need to get a tip also. What size muffler did you go with? I got an 18".

18 inch as well. I will look for another tip. The shop didn't have one I liked.

You're going to love it. The sound will get better after it breaks in for a few thousand miles.
