I mean would it not make sense to try a set of those to see and if that fixes the problem then you have saved a lot of money by not replacing parts that do not need it. That might be why vehicles cost so much these
days. QUAKRSTAKER---- what finally fixed your problem?
General is a brand name of Continental tire. There was a Continental General manufacturing plant in my home town until a couple of years ago.

My guess is as good as yours as to what finally fixed it. Started with the transmission, moved to the driveshaft then wound up putting a new transfer case and rearend in it at the same time. When they delivered the truck, they had also put a set of Michelin street tires off a 2wd donor from their lot on it for me to test out over the weekend as well. The vib was gone.. so somewhere in there it was taken care of. They put a set of LTX M+S tires on it that Monday. The tires on my truck are quite a bit larger than those 2wd tires were, so there was a difference in the ride between even those two sets of Michelins.

Your dealer can do whatever he wants to do.. I'm proof of that. Some of the 2wd trucks come with the street Michelins and I believe the Expedition can get the LTX tires, so the guy you are dealing with is full of it. Michelin is an OEM tire supplier to Ford on truck applications.

They had my truck for 4 weeks straight. They wouldn't give it back until they had it 100% fixed. Just goes to show the difference in dealerships.

Beds are going to shake. Some beds even flex independently to the cab. I have bedshake offroad but I don't notice it other than that. Good luck getting it fixed.

Guys, it's not in your heads. I have an 06 with Goodyear tires and I can notice a huge bounce, both visually and by sound. It gets really noticeable when the rear window is open. And I can feel the bouncing through the entire truck. This isn't a problem that is very serious, but its very annoying. I have had several trucks and I understand that beds flew independantly of the frame, and even the cab. But having said that, I have NEVER had a truck that has a bed that moves more than my suspension does on bumps. It's like these beds have rubber bushings under them to deaden something. Im definately not imagining this, because I noticed this the 2nd day I had the truck. I'm going to take it to the dealer over the summer when Im home for beark and see if they know of a fix, cause a lot of people seem to have this same problem.

Actually, it's an optical illusion.

The box frame typically rides over the suspension a lot more rigidly, so the bed naturally rides with frame which bounces and moves with the contour of the road. What you are really seeing is the cab bouncing around, making it look like the bed is flopping. It's because the cab is bolted to the frame through extremely large rubber bushings.

Keep in mind that these are maintenance items, which means at about 80000 miles they should be inspected and if necessary replaced, or you're going to have one interesting ride. Here's a pic of one of the bushings from the underside of the cab:

I can feel and see the bed shaking when I hit uneven pavement while turning. It seems to step out a bit too. I think that's normal pickup stuff since my S-10 does that. I've been behind another 04+ F-150 as we crossed this spot in a construction zone with a lane change and rough pavement that really shakes my F150. It did look like the bed was vibrating quite a bit. On normal roads it's smooth and normal.

I have noticed that the drivers side corner shakes much worse than the passenger side--what is the difference?

I put a bag of sand on the drivers side bed coner and problem fixed. Isn't this what the butyl pad was intended to do (i.e. dampen the bed shakes). If not, what else was it for?

Fact Of The Matter Is This

The bed bouncing in the rear view is not an optical illusion. When you can feel your leg shaking, see the cab and the guages shake when you try to look at them it is not an illusion. I just don't understand why they won't try to put a new set of a different brand tire on it to see if this fixes the problem. I mean one of these general continental tires has a weight on it that is about 4 inches long. Come on!

???

Is this issue related to the "VIBE" issue everyone keeps talking about?

I posted a while back about how my A/C would cutoff and spit out hot air every once in a while. Well, winter came around and I didnt notice it happening. The outside air was a nice temp.

Now that the heat has picked up again here in Miami....It's Back! Always happens the same way. I'm moving slowly or stopped. The fan clutch clicks a little louder than normal, the brake pedel seems to lose a little pressure, RPMs dip a little lower than idle and hot air starts coming into the cabin.

A few revs or just getting up to speed fixes the problem.

Been to the dealer twice and both times they wrote "could not recreate complaint."
