Where do you guys get your paint work done?

I've got some EGR fender flares I need to get painted - someone mentioned they got theirs painted and installed for $125. I can install them myself but I called a few shops yesterday and prices ranged from $150-300 just for paint. These are not much bigger than stock and considering I picked these up on ebay for $90 I don't really want to spend a couple hundred to paint them - maybe I'm just cheap.

It seems like you can get pretty good results if you are careful by doing it yourself with paint from someplace like paintscratch.com or expresspaint.com - anybody have luck going that route?

Speaking for myself...paint and I don't mix, especially auto paint.

I have a great relationship with the bodyshop dept at a local Ford dealer and they constantly do much touch-up an minor work for gratis. I do keep 'em in pizza and "refreshments."

Anyhow $150-$300 sounds way too high. And, doing it yourself, well what can I say...it will look like you did.

Where are you located? I paint at a BMW /Landrover dealership in Michigan. Did yours have flares originally? Ron

I live in Novi and work in Detroit. I have an XLT so no flares on it right now. These are EGR flares - smooth, rigid plastic, about the same height as stock flares but a little wider at the bottom.

Well, I work in Farminton hills at Erhard BMW. I think I can hook you up on those. Problem is, i don't go back to work for a month. I had shoulder surgery!

I go to a local paint shop that usually deals with insurance claims but I took my mercedes and BMW there and they did an awsome job. They also did a great job on my 65 mustang. I am sure you can find a local paint shop. Fender flares will probably be easy to paint so whereever you go I am sure they will do a good job.

It's Drk torreador red but the two tone color is Arizona Beige which is what I want to paint them.

I'm not in any real hurry so I can wait if you think you can do it for a reasonable price or want to do it on the side or what ever. You work just a couple of miles down the road from my house.

I wish I could get this hook-up. I have a set of Lariat flares (airzona beige) that I need prepped and painted (silver metallic). Here in SoCal all the esitmates have been right around $400 (since I have no contacts in paint & body).

I've already paid $275 for the fenders (a while back) and another $400 is hard to accept!

Well, if you're willing to ship them, I'll take care of them when I do the others. My boss is very good about letting me take care of friends. You pay shipping both ways and probably 125-150... That way I can give the boss $$ for materials and booth time... Motopro292@aol.com Ron

$150 to paint fender flares is cheap enough.
