Rectangular 2004 Ford Nerf Bars
Rectangular 2004 Ford Nerf Bars
I just bought some 04 rectangular nerf bars off ebay and the guy didnt include the bolts. Could someone do me a favor or if anyone knows the correct bolt size? or maybe how I could find it? Thanks

Question is, I know the mounting of the plastic ones are the spring loaded nuts attached to the body mounting points.
For your bars, do you already have a set that you are swaping out ?
If not, did the spring nuts ( or other mounting option ) get included with the kit ?
I cannot even find the factory bars to compare with.
What "rectangular" boards are you speaking of? Do you have pics?
I'm asking because I had THESE [the chrome/polished version] running boards on my Screw and pulled em' off for THESE ones.
I sold the old running boards but the guy didn't need the bolts so I kept them and still have them in a zip lock bag in the garage.
I believe there are 24 bolts in total: fromt the bolts that mount to the bracket to the frame/body to the bolts that bond from the bracket to the running board themselves.
If you handle shipping, I'll be more than happy to send them over for no fee. I'm in Virginia. Either reply here or drop me a PM.

That's amazing....one set is sold with the buyer not needing bolts - so the previous owner keeps the bolts (rather than giving the to the buyer anyways or tossing them) and then another member buys nerf bars and needs the bolts.....gotta dig this forum
I just bought the ones in my picture a couple of days ago myself. When I made the deal the guy told me he didn't have the hardware but the deal was too good to pass up. Fortunately when I met him to pick them up we looked under his truck to see how they fastened and the nuts on the little sheet metal clips were still attached to his truck! With a screwdriver we were able to pry them off so all I had to get was 16 little metric bolts and lock washers. It only took me about 30 minutes to install them both once I got home, of course thats after I had to return to the hardware store to pick up the clip/nut I used to check bolt sizes and left laying on the bolt bin!

No luck. The receipt says bolts, nuts ,washers, etc. I do know the head size on the bolts was 13 mm and they were about 1" long. If you don't have them you will need the nuts that are attached to clips that slip over the edge of the larger holes under the cab. I don't know if you can get those at a hardware or not.
No we ended up crawling under the guys truck and prying them off. I don't know the correct name for them but maybe somone can speak up here. They are just a nut that is welded to a piece of metal in a u shape that locks in place in the square holes under the floorboard area and under the door sills. Look at the installation instructions on this ebay site and you see part number 5, thats what they are but its hard to see them unless you can blow it up more.

Better yet look at www.mcmaster.com and search for cage clip on nuts and the offste hole type. Thats what they look like.
