Need to vent on recent service
Need to vent on recent service
Ok, I need to vent on my recent dealer trip:
Dropped my '04 Screw (12k miles) off today at my dealer who has treated me very well. I wanted them to look at the following issues:
1. Rear window rattle: It's done this since new. Any bump in the road makes this weird sound that many here have reported on. I found the TSB fix and brought it with me. I had a mech go for a ride and he confirmed it and said the new gasket, or whatever they do will fix it. He even checked their stock and they had one of the "kits" in stock.
2. Vibration during braking: I've developed this slight vibration during braking over 40 mph. I feel it more in the pedal than the wheel. Weird. The mech saw the wheel shimmy a little on the test ride. He said the rotors needed to be turned. I mentioned there was a TSB on updated rotors and I wasn't going to be happy with moy rotors being cut at 12k miles.
3. Off idle surge: I've seen this posted here several times. I've reported this to my dealer a couple times and they are "unable to reproduce the problem". Unfortunately, it didn't do it on the test ride.
4. Oil change and tire rotation.....which they screwed up.
So here's the outcome.
1. They said the TSB for the rear window was only for power sliding windows. They stated no work was done. The funny thing is, the window doesn't rattle now. This is the very first day my window hasn't made a sound. Go figure.
2. Brakes: Dealer stated the TSB was not for my vehicle. They pulled the rotors and checked the pads. Invoice states that they are within Ford specs. They said I'll have to live with it until it gets worste.
3. Off idle surge: "could not duplicate concern", was written on the invoice. Same thing as the last two times. They checked and did not see any error codes recorded.
4. Oil change: I always change my own oil, but they had a special for $37 which included a tire rotation and oil change. Pretty good. So as I'm driving home, I'm reading the invoice and see "030 oil, quantity 5". I'm thinking to myself, did they put 10w30 in and only use 5 quarts????? Couldn't be. I got home and checked the oil level. Sure enough, it just barely registered on the dipstick. I'll be calling first thing in the morning to give them a piece of my mind and also to see if they used 30 weight oil. Luckily I had two quarts of 5w20 in the garage.
Thanks for listening.

You must being going to the same dealership as me.
Whenever I have work done to my truck, I check it out right after they hand me the keys, I don't care what faces they make at me. My dealership serviced my wifes car (05 Focus) (oil change and tire rotation) and never put the filler cap back on, she ended up driving it a couple of the miles down the road and smoke started coming through the vents and from under the hood. Oil was everywhere, but the dealership wouldn't own up to it, man was I ticked, it was a brand new car! At least you have the paper work to show that the oil type and amount was wrong. After they fix the problem, make sure they fix it in there records as well, it could hurt you later on down the road when something goes wrong.
When I get home I am going to check into those TSB's for you, it doesn't seem right, I think you are covered.
