Change wood trim to any color - you pick!
Change wood trim to any color - you pick!
So I have the tan interior with the wood trim, and am considering a color change for the wood trim. No overlays...actually recoloring the trim. What color do you think would look good?
Would black be too much? At times I think it would look good and other times I think it would be way too bold on the tan interior.
And then I think silver/light grey, but then that might look to plain.
Then I thought of a darker tan to compliment the rest of the interior.
Any thoughts?

Yesterday I finally got a chance to pull out the Sirius Starmate radio, and install the factory Visteon rcvr. The wait was to get the FX-4 Lux edition, center trim panel. This is what Ford calls " Pewter Wave Finish " pattern on the panel, and almost color matches the top tray. Looks 1000% better then the "70's coffee table look" the Lariat has in it from the factory.
This is P/N 6L3Z-1504302-AD for the cigar lighter only, the P/N for the one with the Parking Aid button is 6L3Z-1504302-AE
The Ash Try ( complete assy, not just a cover ) is 4L3Z-1504810-CAA.

This makes it so the center trim panel does not stand out and hell " HERE I AM" like the 70's coffee table look does.
Next I think I am chaning the door panels. I am going to look in a bone yard first.
If you want a better idea of the finish, look at any FX-4 on a lot. The "Pewter Wave Finish" is the same between the EMTC and the EATC, just the shape of the panel for the HVAC is different.
Just an idea, that is less the 100.00 for the center area, that requires no painting, just remove the pass seat belt warring, and the EATC, and install on the trim panel.
As always, confirm these P/N's and pricing before you purchase.

Sorry I made it to the question on black, hit the reply.
It would be hard to get an idea of that, due to the FX-4 not having a Tan interior option.
KR is a wood grain center trim panel...if I am thinking correctly ??
That is about it, no way to get an XLT center trim panel to work, only EMTC HVAC.
I don't know if it would be too much, but now that my brain is in gear, I am thinking the same color Tan as the interior ? Paintscratch.com has the interior paint colors, and you can get it with Flex for the plastic parts.
Just a thought, it would be kind of the same schem, where mine is dark to dark, that would look Tan to Tan with the silver part in between.
Going against the "grain" here - but I actually like the factory "wud" look - not too obnoxious and it "classes" up the interior as well. I just finished up adding a few matching select pieces from Joshua Tree and it came out very nice. I covered the window switch plate areas on all 4 doors, the center console around the shifter and cup holders and the rear cup holder top surface. Really "luxes" up the interior (covering that cheap gray plastic look) and is not too obnoxious (as some of the wud kits look when you add too much).
I'll try and get pics - but my digicam and I don't work together very well
