I have a 04 Lariat with a sun roof. It has a audiophile with a 6 cd in dash. I was thrilled that I thought could add an I-pod. I got a recommendation for a deal for a PIE. He said i won't work because I have a sun roof and no DVD player.

Any thoughts?

I'm far from a PIE expert but... I didn't have the interior DVD and it works fine... in fact, I think it's just the opposite -- if you have the interior DVD it WILL NOT work.

Not exactly sure how the sunroof comment plays in... I have the roof and it worked just fine... I'd check with someone else selling them and get another opinion.

RP is right - Vehicle CANNOT be equipped with factory DVD and stereo must have the AUX button, the sunroof thing.....ummm I have no idea why that would even be mentioned or come into play. I have a sunroof on my '05 along with PIE. Never heard of such a thing.

 

The guy at the "Car Toys" which was referred by the vendor on the internet posted above shop says that my head unit is different because I have a sun roof and, thus, I do not have the capacity for a DVD player. He claims he ordered 2 different harnesses and neither worked. He then tried to give me a FM modulator and I said no.

 

just check on your head unit.... if you have an AUX button you're golden. you can use your PIE adapter. sunroof or not. if he's that stupid i wouldnt feel comfortable with him workin on my truck either... lol.

 

He may have been using the wrong PIE unit.

 

Exactly - If you have an AUX button you are good - That guy sounds like a herb to me

 

He may be claiming since he has the sunroof, then there is no rail system, therefore no DVD capability and therefore no AUX option. But more than likely, he doesn't know what he is talking about. If you have the AUX button on your factory head unit, you are golden. Find another shop.
