Ordering a New F-150
Ordering a New F-150
Has anyone here ordered a F-150 lately? And if so how long did it take from day u orderd it, to the day u drove it home?
I am very courious because I want to order one, but I want to get it on or before 07/05/06 because that's when all the rebates expire.
TIA CJ

Quicker than you think!!!
I ordered a new FX4 on March 16 and it just came in last Thurday, April 6. I think a lot of it depends on the dealership. I my dad ordered and F150 last May and the told him 4-6 weeks. I think thats a pretty good estimate. Anyway, good luck, I'm sure you'll love it!

Maybe one of the guys that work on the lines could chime in here, but I suspect, they would run a pile of 4.6, auto 4x2s at a different time than they would run a pile of 5.4, auto, 4x4s.
Proximity to manufacturing location probably makes diifference as well. I live in Chicago and my truck was built in KC.
Plants
I do not work on the line but I have been on the floor of the Rouge Assembly in Dearborn and they use flexible manufacturing that alows them to produce the trucks in any order. They come off the line all mixed up, no series... The Mark LTs even come off in between 2 fords. It just depend on the orders.

we ordered our 35 trucks 4 weeks ago and the first were delivered yesterday
the rest are due this week, we refused 3 that we unloaded yesterday, 1 delivered damaged, 2 with vibrations, promply refused
before anyone says you can not do this, we did our on contract with the owner of the dealership
after all the problems that everyone has with these trucks we addressed the issues up front before placing the order, we wrote the contract for our protection not the dealer
they wanted the business so bad that the owner signed after his lawyer approved
when you dangle 35 trucks in front of an owner, he may just want the order
our contract states what will cause a rejection, how we test for acceptance, the specific name of the tire shop that will check alaigment and balance, tire shop is our expense, we pay for. We will find the bad tires before delivery.
all ours were ordered with michelin tires and so defined in the contract, anything else and the dealer replaces at the tire shop we trust and use.
the dealer has to reorder the rejected trucks, we will not take a truck that we reject and they "FIX". so stated in the contract
what has us worried is that we can not and will not take delivery until all 35 trucks are checked and accepted, that means all accepted trucks must sit protected indoors at a secured location by the dealer
we hate to wait but a contract is a binding document
order cut off is coming up soon
the cut off for government fleets has already passed, fleet should be soon, and final cut off soon after
if the reordered trucks miss cut off, then we must wait for the 2007 models after the model year change and plant vacation
any way it is the dealers cost and his expense, his best interest to reorder quick
oh, these trucks are special order, you can not find them sitting on a lot with the features we want, besides, we do not want lot trucks that have been sitting for 6 months
our dealer is not likely to loose out.
example:
a local supply business we do business with has just bought 2 of the rejected trucks and he paid a couple of thousand higher than our contract price
he knew about our order and heard we rejected 2 trucks.
he called us last night and asked what the problems were, we told him we could not comment other than one was physically damaged when unloaded off the transport
he said he figurered that it was vibration, and since his are used on construction sites, down rough dirt roads, etc, and he spec'd his trucks like ours, he jumped at the chance, he may buy the damaged truck after repairs and if the price is right. his drivers could care less and so treat his trucks badly
we spec all our with the largest towing package and the largest fuel tank and on the supercabs, that is 35.7 gallons.
i will post the results when all 35 are delivered and accepted.
back to the question, looks like 3-4 weeks +\- if you order before cut off otherwise you will have to wait and get a 2007
