Reputation Points

Are any of you guys giving Rep. points to good posts? I have been pretty faithful giving points to posts that are helpful and significant. Just curious if you all have.

I never knew you could add reputation points. It really doesn't matter to me, but if it makes you feel better, if I knew about them I would have given you some long ago. You've had many posts that have been very helpful

I've given a good amount since they were enabled but I wish it were a little more reminding (too difficult to notice). I like to give them for creative mods, good advice/help, etc. It's not used that much yet because even the upmost compliments never credit me a reputation point, which is ok by me. If reputation got you something in return (the ability to edit your posts without the "edited by:...." notification or something neat like that) I think it would be more successful.

It just told me that I have to spread around some Rep. Points around before I can give any more to you, Josiah

Seriously though, if there were some kind of incentives to give 'em, they'd be used much more.

I want to point out explicitly that the rep points thing isn't a popularity contest though...

When a site uses them, and uses them correctly, you'll see the quality of posts rise and the overall negativity and bashing lessen. I've seen this work very well on other sites that I frequent.

Like FX4EX mentioned, I too have been giving them out religiously. If you see them from me, you'll always see them 'signed' at the end with a 'RP' to let you know where they came from...

So, long story short, if you see a post where someone has gone WAY out of their way to post good information with pictures and a long write up etc... drop some REP points on them. It's important to the site...

Enjoy and divvy them out wisely... you only get one shot with one person before you have to 'spread the points' around.... oh yes, and it can be seen who leaves what....
