Keyless entry with keypad questions

I used the search feature and still have some questions.

My goal is to install keyless entry with a keypad to my XL which has no power locks. An alarm is not necessary, I only want keyless for convenience. I saw Chris Adams used a PowerCode system to achieve this. If I purchase this and a wireless keypad, will I need to purchase/create an additional harness? Are there aftermarket keyless entry systems that have a keypad that doesn’t require drilling? Is there a simpler way to do what I want?

Well I purchased this, I decided to pay the extra $25 for the alarm. I hope it works.

is what some sell that for.

Did you download the PDF file from

http://www.gemsen.com/ford/

That gives you great detailed instructions.

If you do not have power door locks you will need to add power actuators and two relays.

To put in a keyless pad like I did is sorta hard. E-mail me and I can give you info, but you may not like it... Took all afternoon, 15 bucks worth of wrecking yard parts and a stock keypad handle, plus some time with a schematic.

I appreciate your help again Chris. I decided that I will install the stick on keypad because it sounded like a lot of work to integrate the keypad handle. If I run into problems, you’ll be the first I contact. Was the kit I ordered similar to the one you got?

Bad news. The stick on pad did NOT work with my Powercode unit.
It was not quite what you got, it is a powercode deluxe.

I bought the Powercode and the stickon after being assured by dealers, posters, vendors that they would work together.
They did not.
I then went a different way, putting on the stock door handle and rewiring it to work independent of the alarm.

If this is truly the original Ford part it may work. Wish I could be more helpful.

grr... sounds like the same thing will happen to me. The dealer told me that the stickon would work. I hope it works since it has the ford sticker on it. I'll keep my fingers crossed.
