F-Series Sales are Up

This was taken from blueovalnews.com. I wonder if they'll ever hit a million in sales for a year.

"Ford's F-Series truck also has gained market share in another important segment, the full-size pickup market. In March, F-Series sales totaled 84,168, up 5 percent compared with a year ago and the highest March sales since 2000. It was the third month in a row of higher sales for America's best-selling vehicle. Through March, F-Series sales totaled 199,801, up 6 percent. Another full-size pickup, Lincoln's Mark LT posted its second highest sales month (1,543) in March. Through February, the company gained three full points of share in the full-size pickup segment."

When they mention F-series in that context, don't they usually mean all the F-series trucks, including the 250's and 350's?

Good question. It appears in the below chart that the Super Duty's are included in the F-Series sales tally. This is all they list for "pickup" sales. F150 and Superduty are not listed separately in their charts. Not sure though, how Ford counts their sales in that regard.

FORD BRAND MARCH 2006 U.S. SALES

March % March CYTD %

F-Series 84,168 80,527 4.5 199,801 189,408 5.5

I think they are selling them mostly in my neighborhood.

I have never seen a vehicle catch on so quickly. Closest would be the mid 60's Mustang.

There seems to be more of the new model trucks in my area than any other truck.
Which is weird.
About 60% of the cars on the road are trucks or SUV's locally, and it is common now to see four or five new model trucks at any big intersection. 4-8 is normal in any big parking lot.
I do believe Ford has a winner here.
