LED 3RD Brake Light

My buddy turned me on to this info. Go to the link below, and in the purchase page there is an area for a promotional code..... Enter FTE30 and it will knock down the price from 120.00 to under a hundred dollars! Just an FYI

I believe these are on ebay for around $70? Maybe not this brand but a couple of different ones... with the same number of LEDs...

I wonder if the quality difference justifies the difference in price?

No no... I didn't mean to sound like I was negating the fact that they're available there... just pointing it out in addition to your post...

I've been eyeballing these things for several months now but keep hesitating on pulling the trigger because, like others, I want bulbs for cargo light versus the LEDs... similar to the old Lightning third brake light.

Just out of curiosity, but why is everyone looking for one with regular cargo light bulbs? I figured it would be the opposite.

Was it a direct plug in and how is the fit?

The ones that I've seen, that wasn't the case. In fact, quite the opposite... the LED was pretty weak and had a weird hue to it that just didn't look quite right to me...

That's my subjective opinion though... *shrugs*

RP,

Why wouldn't you want an LED light for the rear upper brake light? I mean arn't LED brighter than halogen bulbs? If they arn't, regardless you have an ARE cover so it'd block any light getting to the bed when it's open anyhow.

Maybe I'm just totally lost on what you guys are talking about.

Side note, has anyone seen HIDPlanet's new LED taillights? I've been waiting forever to see these things.

I'd rather have 'bulbs' for the cargo light portion versus the LEDs... as for the red brake indicators; definitely LED.

The cargo lights appear to scatter pretty quickly and don't provide much direct downward light for the cargo (or, in my case, just general surrounding light since I have a fiberglass tonneau).

Ohhhh, I see what you're talking about now. Yeah I agree. Same setup as you so I see what you mean. I'd like to run some lights this summer to the rear bed to light it up when the doors are open.

I'll have to do some research and email MYST about it. (electrical guru)

RP, I understand now. I know what you mean about the light scattering. The led's in my undercover are like that. For only being 3 bulbs they put out a fair amount of light, but they're also pointing directly at the bed floor so that helps.

Duke, yeah...where's the link?

Hey Fellas,

We don't know what they look like. We're waiting for HIDPlanet to post and show us what they look like or where they can be found on the web.
