Probs from Gearswap -- Ford Doesn't Want To Correct Speedo

The contracted close date is April 31st, but it all depends on if the girl can sell her duplex or now. I'm going to talk to her Friday to find out WTF. If she doesn't have a contract on her's here is now way she'll be able to close on the contracted date. If she doesn't have a good answer I'm going to put a For Sale By Owner sign in my front yard for "second chance" offers.
Remember I asked where you got your lift done? I still want to do that to, but I can't do that to my g/f right now. She's 5 months pregnant! Speaking of lifts, my friend in the red F350 did make the mud runs... were you able to see the beast??

Im sure its going to cost around $100 to get your speedo recalculated from a different shop. Just another option, trying to help.

Just a thought... if you're going to walk down the blower road... you probably want to go with a true custom tune versus one that can be tweaked. FWIW, there are a lot of good 'CUSTOM' tuners out there that can build a tune around your blower (and gears and whatever mods you decide to bolt on)...
While I don't have a blower and such, I'd highly recommend the XCAL II with a custom built tune from Troyer Performance. While I don't have any intentions on smacking on a blower (albeit a great thought), I have been running their tunes pretty much since I bought this truck. The improvement over stock is NIGHT AND DAY. As has been stated in the past, there's enough 'untapped fun' within a 5.4 (or any other Triton) to really pull some ponies out from under the hood in a stock condition -- when you step it up with a tuner and other significant mods like you're talking about -- In my opinion, it's best to go all out and get the top of the line and the biggest and best bang for your tuning dollar.

Well I think I found my solution... The truck is going in a different direction.
I had an '88 Mustang that I supercharged, modded, worked on, dumped money into and everything else you could think of just to lose interest in it. As a matter of fact, I put so much time & money into it that I started to hate even looking at it. The past two weeks I've been so stressed out & mad at this situation that I'm not going to allow this to happen again.
My next plan was to have the Roush blower installed... that idea has been put on hold until further notice. Soon after that I planned on lifting the truck... just like the blower, this plan has been put on hold also.
The business Ford was contracting out to fix my speedo was planning on tapping into the speedo signal wire to "trick it." This would be great on an old beater, but not on my truck. I can only see this fix causing more problems down the road. If I go with even larger tires down the road another box would need to be installed... costing me $225. It would only take twice before the top of the line tuner would have been paid for...
I went to Ford and told them I wasn't happy with this solution. The Accessories Manager and I were discussing other options, then I brought up the Edge & Xcal2. He agreed that this would be the best bet for my situation, and that Ford owes me $225 to clear this mess up. The hold up was that that $225 could only be used on Ford parts, and couldn't be handed out in cash or check.
Although I don't know much about the tuners, I've read great things about both the Edge & Xcal2. I like the "pod" the Edge mounts up with, but I like the extra goodies the Xcal2 comes with. I opted to purchase the Edge today. It's on an overnight flight to be delivered via DHL tomorrow. I should have Saturday free, so I hope to have it installed by then.
Now for the $225 -- we couldn't think of anything I needed / wanted. Then one of the parts guys pointed out something I've been looking at for two months now: the new polished forged Alcoa 20" x 8" rims. The Accessories guy said he'd make me one hell of a deal on them, and he did. So I now have a set of them sitting in my garage
I'm going to have to do some research to find out what sized tires I can fit without rubbing, but that's an entirely new topic.
The Ford people said that even if I do decide to get the blower down the road, Roush wipes the PCM out 100%. He said they can tell them to put in provisions for 4.10's, and it won't be a problem. With that said, if I do end up down that road again I wouldn't be stuck removing some "converter" box... rip the Edge out and throw the Roush PCM in.
So I guess the new plans are: install Edge to fix speedo, play with the various canned tunes and go from there. See what my options are for these new 20" rims -- if I find one I like I'll mount them up... if I don't they can sit on my shelf or I'll sell them. I'm going to ease up on serious power mods before I burn out and no longer enjoy my ride. After being on this board for five+ months I know many of you know what I'm talking about
Oh, and one person made the comment of my odometer adding miles faster than I'm actually going: this is the single reason why I've been freaking out on this issue. I'll be damned if I'm going to have a 2005 truck with less than 12,000 miles that has a title checked "NOT ACTUAL MILAGE!"

Seeing as how the The MSD Performance Group has acquired the Edge Products Company, you might get lucky and the Edge people will offer a blower tune when you're ready.
The Roush tune is not the one you want, either way.

From what I've heard, the Roush tune (on a stock truck) is nearly flawless. Although I think it retains stock shift points & speed limiter, that's not an option for me. Unlike my Mustang that I was always going for 100% max power, on the truck I just want a little more.
In the mean time I do have some great accessories waiting if I decide to go blown: dual 2 1/16" gauge A pillar pod, Innovative wideband kit for 2 1/16" pod & full-sweep electric boost gauge. That's about $900 in parts
Oh well... they'll be there if I need them.
If you decide not to buy the Edge, you might check out used tuners such as the Superchips 1714. As long as the vehicle it was used on was reset to stock there should be no issues. It can adjust for the gear change and make some decent performance improvement. When you get your blower, then rest the PCM to stock and resell the used programmer.
