hey guys, for thoes that say our trucks get bad milage, I have to say pa-tooie. i just drove 1280 miles from new orleans to new jersey(other side of the river from the philly airport.
I averaged 18.1 miles to the gallon FX4 Scab 3:73s stock 275/70/18s 75ish mph, of course through VA and W VA 60-65ish mph
started with 6200 miles on the od. I have an undercover, reciently installed, did that help???? I dont know or care.
I am happy to be getting 18 miles to the gallon in a 6000lb beast.

@ 55-60 I am getting 23mpg, well was. Now that I'm lifted it's much worse, odd how a 6" lift alone (even with stock tires) durastically effects the mileage. In town is a whole nother story, it's horrible.

yea josiah, after i lowered my truck, same stock tires, and same other mods, same driving habit, ive picked up on average .5 mpg

https://www.f150online.com/forums/sh...01#post2020201

i also think ive got a little more power, due to a stiffer launch, and also less power loss through the cv joints, since they are more or less in a line, over stock ride hight, im looking at finding a set of adjustable shackles soon to completely level it out.

Not calling bs on any of it, but it I'm sure it also feels like you are travelling faster. I say this because riding in a buggy or something low to the ground feels much quicker than riding an ATV at the same speed. Same thing with cars vs. lifted trucks

About your driveshafts, are they really in a straight line (pics)? I'm sure that would make it easier to turn than at an angle.

ill wash her tomorrow, and ill do a normal photo shoot after the wash and ill be sure to snap a pic of the drive line....

and yea it is partly a "feel" of the truck, and it handles a whole lot better, but i know by over 1000 miles, ive gained a little mpg, that much i do know.

Later,
-Patrick

I get 10mpg during normal driving.

Forget what it may or may not be capable of in a one-off test. WHo cares about that. I am more concerned over what I get every week.

yeah, big deal, you can get decent mpg if you're driving in flat terrain and lower speeds (55-70mph). I got 18 and 19.1 (personal best) driving down south in NC/SC heading to Myrtle beach. Back home here in hilly PA, it's back to 12mpg local driving.

oh, and 18mpg is what the truck is rated for anyways for highway driving...

Why did you slow down so much through West Virginia? We have a great law on the books that no other state has. You are able to drive up to 9 miles per hour over the speed limit and can only be fined for it if you get pulled over. It will not be reported on your driving record. Our state legislators passed this as a way to keep themselves from getting into a lot of trouble because they were getting busted for speeding on their way to Charleston for legislative sessions all the time.

okay, i took some pictures, and the cv joints look pretty level or straight.

Compared to this picture of my stock ride height...

Just by sight you can tell that its leveled out alot more then stock

then i went a step farther and measured out, how far from the ground each cv joint, is to get a better idea of how level they really are.

FRONT:

REAR:

So 2" difference over the im guessing 6 foot length of the driveshaft. not bad.......
