Waste of money?

I recently took my 05 screw to get new tires all around. The owner of the local tire shop was nice enough to let me take his 05 for the day.
He has an airaid intake, airaid t.b. spacer, after market exhaust( not sure of the brand) and a superchips tuner. I have to say i was very disappointed in the truck. My stock truck has as much power and throttle response as his and is quieter and from talking to him better on fuel.
Is this an anomoly or are alot of people throwing good money away?
I was about to start buying stuff to tweak my truck but am not sure now if i should even bother.

I'm not sure about the Superchips (micro)tuner, if that's what you are talking about, but my XCal2...you WILL FEEL a major difference in throttle response compared to stock.

I had the Microtuner on my 2000 5.4 F150 and had a very noticable difference in throttle response.

I have the Superchips 1914 Tuner and there's no doubt that it makes a big difference.

I've had chips on other vehicles in the past and honestly never really noticed much, but w/ the Superchips on the 5.4L F-150 there is a big difference.

Save the money and buy a supercharger, that is what I am trying to do. This way there won't be any doubt.
