Steering wheel is shaking....

After having my new rims and tires installed, the steering wheel is shaking. I had them rebalance everything and it still does it. The funny thing is that when driving down the road the shake will go away for awhile and then come back. The only thing that I can think of is the fact that right now all the frost is leaving the ground (I live in Wisconsin) so the roads are rough and with the larger rim/tires its just that much more noticable. What are your thoughts?? This there something that I am missing??

Thanks Paul

Haha I just got 325/65/18 nitto terra grapplers installed on friday. I have a slight shake as well. I just think its because the tire is so wide. I stabalizer may help. I wonder if anyone makes one for the 04+ 4 inch rancho.

Good luck.

mine shook when it was colder outside until they got warmed up. I didnt have nearly as much meat on my tires as you do though.

Also check to make sure they removed all the clips that hold on the rotors from the factory. Small round clips on 2 or 3 of the studs at each wheel location.

If the Fabtech system fixes the problem, then thats what I am doing. I just have a couple little questions that maybe Screw2004 can answer.

My wheels have a 5.5" backspacing, with the mods that you made will the kit fit?? (eventhough Fabtech says you need 5" of BS).

Also I wil be running the stock rims/tires in the winter. Will it now clear the stockers also?? (I assume that they will since they also have 5.5" of BS)

Thanks!!
Paul

He's just too lazy to re-balance them for you.

After I had my 20's installed, I had a vibe around 70mph. I had them rebalance them 5 times within 6000 miles. Finally I told them to just give me new tires. They had no problem doing that, and it solved the problem. They also told me if the vibe is still there, then they would get me some new rims.
