Question is it worth upgrading the pumpkin?

I currently have a 9.75 diff with 3.73s, non-LS. I do 90% city, 10% HWY and about 0.0001% towing, the very rare occasional towing of a cousin's trailer. I think the last it was weighted was just under 5K lbs.

Having said this, is there a benefit to a 3.73 LS upgrade? What about a 4.10 LS?

Thanks for the input.

If you are going to change your gearing you might as well actually make it an upgrade. Either don't do it or swap to 4.10 or 4.56 (4.56 only if you are putting on atleast a set of 33's) LS.

If rear tire traction is not a concern... i.e. wet, gravel, icy, muddy, etc. then there is no reason to add a LS.

The purpose of LS is to try to keep both tires spinning. If you were stuck in the mud without LS it would be common for the rear tire with the least traction to spin... if you have LS they should both spin.

Right, Im just debating if I should go ahead and get the upgrade to 4.10 LS. I guess the better the traction better.

Now the question is, where to upgrade other than the stealership.

Thanks

Save the cash, going from 3.73 to 4.10 would gain you very little. If you just want the LS then get an aftermarket unit and have one of the local gear shops install it. WAY cheaper than the stealership.
