amp placement
amp placement
I got two amps with my system that im getting installed next week some time. One JL amp for the door speakers then a Alpine amp for the two sub woofers. Where should these amps be placed, i was thinking bout the back wall of the cabin but i was worried bout them getting overheated. What about under the passenger seat? Only oen amp would fit underthere so what bout the other one? Just pop it on the back wall of the cabin?
Edit: Alot of people have been asking how you mount on the back cabin wall(including me). So hopefully you guys will chime in and help us out.

I have 3 amps on the wall behind the rear seat (although one has built in fans) I've had no over heating problems whatsoever. Best place to put them if you ask me...out of the way and hidden from thieves.
I re-positioned the rear window motor and the other black box (I think for the keyless entry).

Seriously, I have had two (very) small amps in there for the last few weeks. They are out now, trying different things lately.
Of course they were small amps, one stock 200 amp Kenwood that comes with their in dash DVD player, and another tiny 100 watt I was using to drive a single 8 inch woofer.
I had to unbolt the center seat, rock it back to load the amps from underneath, and then re-bolt it down. There is air circulation at the back of the seat. If they had got warm I was going to put a small fan under there, but they never approached hot.

Sorry to bring this back up but i didnt wanna start a new thread, when you place the amps on the back wall you take the rear seat off right? Then you or the mechanic placed the amp on the rear wall then you put the seat back in? And do u just like.....drill into the cabin wall or how would you or the mechanic place the amp on the wall?
