audiophile problem

I have an 04 fx4 and replaced the factory radio with an aduiophile from an 05 i got off of ebay. first the speed volume does not work and second it sounds horrible. does anyone know if you have to have the factory sub connected, or do you have to replace the speakers with the ones for the audiophile system in order for the sound to be right?

Audiophile

The Audiophile system has more and upgraded speakers compared to the "regluar" system. I think it also has a seperate amplifier.

Yes you will have to replace all the speakers as well as have the sub connected make sure the amp for the sub is connected. The speakers in the doors that came with the audiophile system are actually made by boston acoustic.

The audiophile radio is designed to put out only mids and highs to the door speakers and lets the factory sub handle all the lows. The rear door speakers are the same betwen audiophile and non-audiophile vehicles, but the front door speakers have a small component speaker w/ the audiophile system. You don't necessarily have to upgrade your front door speakers to the audiophile type; the speakers in your door now are ok, but it definately won't sound right if you don't have the sub.

Your not getting any lows correct?

The front door speakers are different, but the rears are the same.

The only amplifier other than the one built into the radio is the one for the sub and it's mounted to the bottom of the sub enclosure.

yea, no lows. But does anyone know why the speed volume does not work. or might it have something to do with the rear sub/amp not being connected

That shouldn't be a problem, I did the same thing, and have no sub connected (yet) and my speedvol works fine. To be honest, it's too sensative at low speeds and I turned it off. Did it work on the HU you took out? Even the single CD players have speedvol.

Did you check under your rear seat to see if the amp/sub plug is already there? If not, you're in for some custom wiring.

It's not there...

02Ford, I can get you a diagram of the connector for the back of the radio and also one for the connector that goes into the amp if you want. Let me know.

I don't recommend buying the harness #'s because the wiring runs through a bulkhead and it would be hard to add the wires to each side of it. Just get the connectors and pins (special tool to crimp the pins onto wire) and use your own wire to connect the two connectors.

thanks for all the help. i have a screw and the wiring harness is already installed. i put the factory 6disc back in until i can buy a used factory sub or a new one from ford. luckly i have a few people i know who work at a ford dealer and i can get a discount. if you can call it that factory parts are such a ripoff. i also have a 2002 ford harley supercharged (very fast) compared to my 04 anyway had to pay about $6.00 a screw for 4 screws to attach the trailer wiring harnes to the harnes bracket ($25.00+bucks) from the local dealer. thanks again

Baja150 do you have the pin diagrams for the other two plugs on the 2006 audiophile?

I want to hook my cellphone in-car system to the stereo speakers instead of the little box that came from Motorola. Also want to look at using the MUTE signal from cellphone to lower volume.

Thanks
