Update: Infinity Door Speakers

I've got my Infinity door speakers in finally. Well, almost in. I just need to install the tweeters for the front components. I went with a set of Reference 6810cs components up front, matched with a set of Infinity Reference co-axles in the rear. Of course, both sets were 6x8s. I also added a Hifonics ZX4400 4-Channel Amplifier to power the door speakers. I have the amp just sitting underneath the seat for now until I can get a sheet of MDF and make an amp rake behind the rear seat, along with my other 1500.1 amp. Now let me tell you this set-up is PERFECT for me. Its LOUD, clean, no distortion and did I mention LOUD! I can't even turn them up all the way without my ear drums starting to hurt. Amazingly, the doors don't have any rattles either. The only problem I had installing these speakers were the front door panels were a total BIATCH to get back on! Just a suggestion for anyone trying to tackle this mod. There are 4 clear spacers that hold on the front speakers, when your putting the door panel back on take off the bottom 2, it'll make life a TON easier. I don't even know if the door panel will go on without taking them off because I sure as hell couldn't!

PS: Im sorry if this thread was hard to read, I haven't got much sleep lately.

LOL! Yeah, you gotta take the bottom 2 off and it will just lift right out. They must look something like this........I have the same ones and yeah they sound pretty good and are definitelly loud and clear. You might want to try to put the tweeters in the -2dB position and see if you like that. I had mine in the 0dB and the tweeters seemed too loud compared to the speakers, almost hurt my ears.

I don't even have the tweeters hooked up right now so its almost like the backs are doing all the work. I guess the amp really made a HUGE difference.

Im just curious, do you have a picture of where you mounted the crossover?

Any one got pictures of the factory door speakers? I've heard they're really small (hence the lack of mid-bass). I'm thinking about doing this mod as well.

They're 5x7, If you really interested in seeing what they look like I can take a picture of them tomorrow. They are really embarrasing.

Back when I was waiting to get all my stereo stuff to install, I decided to seal up my doors (mat, MDF, etc.). All I had was the stock system still, but I about doubled my midbass with just those stock speakers after sealing up the doors.

But, now with the Utopias...midbass is AMAZING! Although, I'm on a Rainbow kick right now and want to swap out the Utopias for some Rainbow Platinums! Anyway, I can disconnect my 2 10W7s and it sounds like I have 2 8" subs (just from the midbass). Just goes to show how important a proper install is.

Thump, about time you get this system up and running!

I'm still not sure if I'm gonna put them on or not. I don't have much room on the outside edge of the box. The long bar is longer than I expected, so I'm not sure I can get it look right (centered). I might to be able to get them to fit at an angle. I'm just being lazy because its not going my way. LOL

Since we got off topic a little bit, I'd like to say that Im going to do the same box as Brpink2 just using my Infinity 10s with FX4(s) logos on the box. I just need to find a grill for the subs.

Eventually in time I'll end up sealing up and sound proofing the doors but cash is tight right now, prom is coming up.

Nah, I didn't get pics of that. I put them on the door panel right near the speaker in a crevice where they wouldn't hit anything. I also got some of those plug and play speaker install kits from crutchfield for 04+ F150's so if I remove the door panel, I can just unplug the crossover as if it were stock.

Do you think they could fit underneath the arm rest like others have done?

i did the infinity componants front and rear,i didnt remove the front door panel at all.they will fit right in the same stock location, then i put the tweeter in the same stock location and the crossover in the armrest.

for the rear,i actually installed the tweeter in the bottom of the armrest to make it semi stealthy, cant really see it unless you already know its there.it pivots so i angles it upwards as far as i could get it.
