2004 Supercrew, First Impressions.
2004 Supercrew, First Impressions.
It’s been 2 weeks since I traded in my 2004 Grand Prix GT in on a 2004 Supercrew XLT 4x4 with 59000km and the 5.4L Triton. I thought I would post some of my first impressions here.
It’s been some time since I drove a Ford product of any kind; my family had primarily driven Fords up until my father bought a 1992 Tempo that was a real piece of garbage. I was looking at an Avalanche at first but I couldn’t get past the dog ugly interior and I really didn’t like the way that my Dad's 2005 Avalanche drove, it just felt clumsy and numb. And since there was no way you could make me drive a Dodge that left me looking at Fords.
Well the truck I purchased was exactly what I had been looking for, Arizona Beige with a bug deflector, chrome fender flares, stainless steel rocker panel covers and a bedliner. Interior in nearly new shape and only one minor ding on the tailgate that will be fixed shortly. I got good value for the Grand Prix and got new rubber and a 2 year extended warranty as a part of the deal.
I have put some miles on it now as my daily driver and let me tell you guys, I LOVE THIS TRUCK! It drives so much nicer than my Dads Avalanche, light accurate steering, good ride, comfy seats, plenty of room in the back for the mother-in-law, good power and tight with no squeaks or rattles, which the Avalance already has. To me that the truck is so tight is amazing, especially when you consider the third world condition of the roads in Northern Alberta at this time of year, I think it really speaks to the quality of the design and the assembly.
The first night we had the truck we got our biggest snowfall in several years. Not a problem, I just put the truck in 4x4 and patted myself on the back for making a smart purchase. The only adjustment that I have yet to make is the big difference in my fuel budget, I am not complaining and I knew what to expect but it will take some time to get used to $90.00 fill-ups.
I will post some pictures for all of you to see once I have a chance to get the truck clean to something close to the standards that you all maintain around here. Until then I look forward to sharing all of the fun that I plan to have with this truck with all of you.
Thanks

Congrats on a fine purchase! I feel the exact same way about my truck too. The fit and finish of these trucks are awesome. It's funny, when I ride in other vehicle's, i'm amazed at how much better my 1/2 ton SuperCrew 4X4 rides compared to just about every other vehicle. Couple that with the fact the truck has been bulletproof off road when i've needed her to be and we've got the best of both worlds, guys! Ford did a tremendous job when they engineered this truck and I can only hope the next re-design doesn't stray too much from this one....although i'd love to see the smaller powerstroke and a higher horsepower V-8 make their way into the trucks.
It's great that your truck is turning out so well. I love mine and I too see the quality of construction and interior. I traded in an 02 Silverado that was a trouble free truck for 75,000 miles and hated to see it go at the time. I soon realized that there is no comparison in quality of materials and how they are put together.

Finally had a good day for outdoor photography and the truck is reasonably clean so there are some pictures in my gallery.
