How much did that set you back (if I may ask)? Did you install it yourself (how bad was it?) or have someone install it for you (how much did they charge?) ?

I had two of my buddies help me. When they say its about a 6 hour job, thats about right. Here is a heads up. The front bolt on the drivers side that holds the leaf on, you either have to do some cutting, or move the gas tank to get it in and out...regardless of what kit you get. That was the only real head ache. (I think it is designed that way so the bolt cant puncture the gas tank) The kit ended up costing me $499 plus shipping. (kit weighs over 100lbs so shipping was about $85. I called McGaughy's directly and they hooked me up with the closest dealer, and which kit to get. Most shops here in the Dallas area wanted at least $350 starting to do the job. So we did it ourselves, and it turned out great.

Cool deal. I haven't decided in which direction I want to take my truck, but if I lower it, I'll pay beer for help, I don't think Frisco is too far from you LOL

Sweet ride. Paint those door handles and you'll have a full blown poon-tang picker upper.

Slightly off-topic. Do you still have those 2" drop shackles, or did someone else take those from ya?

I wouldnt mind helping out someone if they are close... Im in Rowlett.

Anywho did you pull the bed off? and i assume that kit comes with a new leaf hanger, Please tell me ford stopped riveting those things onto the frame and just use plain bolts... That was the biggest PITA when i did mine.

Sorry man I just sold the Belltech shackles I had in before.....

No need to take the bed off or anything. The new leafs mount up right where the facotry ones were. 4 bolts. No new hangers or anything. The kit did come with rear shock extenders, but I didnt even need them, had plenty of travel. I suppose if you haul a lot or tow you may want to throw them on. Hey I grew up in Rowlett!

As for the McGaughy's kit.....rides awesome, not once have I bottomed out, or rubbed tires. Can stand in the bed and jump up and down like a mad man, plenty of travel. I didnt even put on the rear shock extenders....havent needed them....

Cooooool, seems the overall feedback of this kit is good from folks and the price is right I think. Thanks for the poop on the shocks. If I could keep from having to relocate them that would be mucho fantastico'
