Plasma Ignition Booster

I received the booster from Troyer this past week. Unfortunately, the instructions that came with the setup are not very complete. If anyone on the post has installed this booster please answer the following question.

Two instruction sheets came with the booster. One is for the Mustang SVT Cobra and the other is a photo copy sheet intended for our trucks. The photocopy sheet instructs the installer to connect each line from the booster to the left wire of the ignition wire. Looking at my truck, on each of the coil plugs I have a varying colored wire and a red w/ green stripe wire. The instructions for the SVT Cobra install are to attach to the multi colored wire. So, I suspect my connection is to the multi-colored wire. The left wire on the 4 plugs on the drivers side is in fact the left wire; but, of course, the opposite is true when I look at the passengers side.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Have you ran the 1/4 mile? What about your 0-60 times? How do you like the Truetrac? Is it in the front or back? Sorry I don't have the answer to your question, definitely post how it turns out, we have very similar mods.

No. I haven't run the 1/4 mile yet. I looked to the Ignition Booster because my throttle response from 0 to 40 was not very good even with the XCAL2 loaded in perf tune. On the Chips and Programmers post, everybody wanted to blame this on the large tires and 4.10 Gears. I just won't accept this yet.

Yesterday, my son and I installed the ignition booster using a 99% likelihood that the multi colored wire was our attach point. We were correct. When I ran the truck following this, I had better low end throttle response. Now, the truck is pulling real good all the way through the 100 MPH mark. After I add the High Flow Cats this coming weekend, I will schedule some 1/4 mile runs. I will be putting the truck back on a dyno as well so I can get the tuner adjusted. I am still running a little lean.

As for the Tru Tracs. I have them in the front and the back. When I am not driving back and forth to work, I like to find some mud and see if I can dig out. In January (mild winter), I found 12" of mud and lots of deep ruts to play in. At that time, I had Pro Comp XTerrains on the truck. No matter what I did, I was not able to get the truck stuck. A couple of times, my forward progress was stopped; but, reverse pulled me out. It cost me over $10 in quarters and two wash facilities to get 90% of the mud off. What fun.

I hate to say it Tshaid.. I love what you've done with your truck so far, but switching to a taller gear will make it feel like an all new truck.

You have the power there, but you're using a stock gear ratio... Stock "gear ratio" just wont cut it..

Running 4.10s and 35's is essentialy the same overall gear ratio as a stock truck.

Yep. You are correct. I didn't go to the 4.56s (sometimes I wish I had) because I was concerned mostly about losing even more fuel economy. I shouldn't worry about this; but, I do. Most of my driving is highway (50 Miles each way with 35 of that being tollway). If most of my driving was stop and go around town, I would have gone to the 4.56s. It was a tough call; but, I have a 98 F150 (now my son's) with 240,000 Miles and it has always had 3.55s. We didn't mod it much; but, are running 33s when 31s came stock. It has never been short of power. It never had much top end; but, we have never really cared.

I will say though that the Plasma has made it feel better. Over the next couple of weeks, we'll see. Next weekend we add the 2 high flow cats and get rid of the four restrictive cats.
