I’m about to order a new FX4 Crew with 6 ½ bed. I’ve always been a Goodyear AT/S guy but I’m considering the BF Goodrich AT this time just to try something different for once. What’s everyone’s opinion between the two tires????

BFg AT hands down. You will LOVE that tire, and it will absolutely walk all over the Goodyear for traction in dirt/mud/snow etc.

Not to mention it looks awesome, and has pretty darn good treadwear as well.

hold up a minute, are you talking about the tires that come stock on the truck or aftermarket tires? If you are talking about the stock tires go with the goodyears but If your talking about aftermarket tires definatly go with the BFG AT's. They are good all around tires with good wear.

I had the BFG's on my truck and they wore out kinda fast. I've heard that the goodyears are better but I don't know from personal experience.

I ordered the Goodyears and have been very happy with them. I only have a little over 10k miles in them, so they still look brand new. Next time I'll get the ones without the white letters though. White letters are a pain to keep clean.

I went with the goodyears, I have 2 friends with them on their 02's and they both got a little over 50,000 miles on them.

 

Also apparntly the goodyears are an upgraded tire because it's a 275.00 option over the BFG's.

 

BFG's all the way, my truck came stock with the goodyears, and they sucked. Went thru about 14 tires before ford gave up and sent me a credit for new tires.

 

Another thing to consider: The Goodyear is an LT tire and the BFG is a P-metric tire, therefore you're going to probably get a slightly rougher ride from the Goodyears. I know I noticed that going from the stock 17" Generals to the 18" AT/S on my XLT.

If I were in your situation and I had the money, I'd save the $275, buy it with the BFG's and then put some Bridgestone Dueler AT Revo's on it. Those have got to be the best tires I've ever had on a truck. And yes, for those that don't know, Bridgestone has finally come out with the Revo in something bigger than a 265/70/17.

 

my stock BFG 18" tires wore out after only 16k miles. At least I got some free ones under Ford's extended tire warranty. If I need new tires before I get a new truck, then I will buy the Bridestone Dueler Revos.

ive got 51k on my stock 18" bfg's theres about a half inch gone off of each side. im looking for new ones now i havent made up my mind on witch ones yet but i wouldnt mind having the bfg's again they were a fair tire. i just wish michelin made some ltx's in a 275/65/18. i had 60k on the set on my '99 and they still looked brand new. good luck with ur choice

 

I would pay the $275 for the Goodyears. The Goodyears are a LT (Light Truck) tire and after all the F-150 is a Light Truck.

The BFG tires are P (Passenger CAR) rated tires. Is the F-150 a "passenger car"? NO!

I'm not sure when this happened, but for sure the pre-1997 style trucks didn't even have an option for P rated tires, they were only used on cars where they belong.

Ever since the truck craze started when people who have nothing to tow or nothing to haul started buying trucks the manufacturers started offering P rated tires. Personally I think it's stupid!
