hi performance COP?????

Does anyone with any experience/knowledge on Granatelli Motorsports' coil pack for 3V unit; 28-1812CP. They claim higher spark ignition (hopefully this will clean some of the carbon build up on our spark plugs). From what I read it sounds pretty good, including hp increase of approx 12 ponies. I think with combo with our edge Evo and this will really make our engine come alive. What your thoughts?

I don't think it'd matter enough on a naturally aspirated mostly stock truck. Maybe on a supercharged truck or one with head work/cams/etc.

How much is it, people post these mods and this is key to whether or not it's worth it.

I would not think you'd see much benefit unless you have a high mile truck(with original stuff) or highly modified.

When I called Granatelli, the contact person told me around $450 to $550 for 8 pieces. It is kind a $$$. I guess judging from forum response, no one has any experience with these......

Way too expensive.. Only reason I could see spending that much moolah would be if you were running some boost.. like 12PSI+.. and you wanted to reduce detonation.

The folks over at The Modular Depot have been working with these COPs for a short time now. They have been getting great results, but I can't say that it has been on N/A 5.4s. You could always go over and see what the buzz is...

Apparently this site carries the Granatelli's COP...they want $499.95 for set of 8. Check out the 3V for the Mustang's

They have been getting good results with the FI SVT guys, and those with blowers on their 4.6 3v. I doubt you would see much of a gain on an NA 5.4 but its definatly a better ignition upgrade than something like the plasma booster for us. Someone buy em and let us know!

You have to spin a Ford COP Modular engine to 6500+ rpm or add 15+lbs of boost to see a benefit from enhanced ignition components IMO.

i agree that they are only worth it on a highly modded engine. would probably help alot with spark blowout while running lots of boost.

Not wanting to get off on the spark plug issue, but,the problem referred to as "carbon build up" looks to me like oxidation. I really doubt if it would help with that.
