Exclamation Arggg...what am I supposed to do now???

This is proving to be difficult...

Well I was all set to get a Magnaflow SS 14" muffler (#11236) and a nice SS tip and I called a couple of muffler shops to see how much they would charge for install. It turns out that nobody will supply stainless steel pipe to make up for the gap created by removing the long 18" OEM muffler, they only have aluminized pipe (WTF I live in Nebraska).

Anybody else ran into this problem??? Can I just buy a 4" section of 2.5" SS tubing from somewhere and give it to them or do I just need to keep calling more muffler shops? I really can't believe that nobody will fab something up with SS pipe for me.

What are all the guys with hot rods doing?

you should be able to find a pice of ss pipe somewhere, the muffler shop has to buy it in an 8ft pice, thats why they wont supply it. you could by the whole 8ft then they would do it im sure, but thats not very practical. I would look around online (anything related to automotive performance) and if you still come up with nothing, try any industral supply or hard ware. they may have to order it but it would be in a smaller size. Or you could always just take the aluminized if you had to! Just my .02 hth.

First off, you're going to need a hell of a lot more than 4" of pipe for the extension. The OEM muffler is A LOT longer than 18". I have an 18" Magnaflow and there is at least a foot of pipe for the extension. And why do you want a SS extension pipe? Are you replacing the rest of the stock piping with SS? Cause if not than that would be kind of be pointless.

I had, and I just pitched it, an extra straight length from my Magnaflow SI/So purchase... They sent me the 24" and 18" pipe with my kit for some reason...

What part of NE you from? I'm looking to get some Nebraska people together in the spring for an F150online meet...

I thought the stock exhaust piping is SS, its not? Shows how much I know, I assumed it was because usually the exhausts on these things outlast the truck.

What size tip do you have? Also what size muffler did you get? Did it really make an impressive sound difference over the stock exhaust?

Oh. But it's not polished, so it's not cool.
Usually when I hear SS the polished kind comes to mind. My bad.

I had the same problem with my '01 and the L cat back Bassani system I put on it.

I used a speed shop that does it's own fabrication, and they had it in stock.

One thing to remember about the SS pipe, if you get T-304 16 awg pipe, a normal shop might not be able to work with it, in terms of bending or bell'ing the end. The equipment they have might only do Aluminium pipe. I also ran into that problem.

Try a speed shop, or call the "local" muffler shops ( not the national chains ) and you might find one.

If a local shop can bell and bend the pipe on their gear, drop a call into Troyer Perf, they ued to carry SS pipe purchased by the foot. Don't know if they still do or not, you'll have to ask to find out for sure.

I had my exhaust redone about 1.5 years ago. Stainless Flowmaster muffler, stainless 3" pip, and a non stainless y-pipe (two 2.5" into one 3"). 1.5 years later the only thing that doesn't have rust on it is the pipe that is not stainless... go figure!

I think it's the 4" Magnaflow tip. I'd go outside to check, but it's cold and snowy...

The sound is great, not too loud, but an impressive sound WOT.

Hopefully my XCal2 will ship this week, don't know if that adds to sound, but should be awesome as well.
