Ranco help, Which kit?
Ranco help, Which kit?
Looking into the Rancho 4'' kit, but Im not sure which one is correct since there are 2 different part numbers depending on build date. My sticker says 12/03 so Im assuming my truck was built in December but the rancho kits does not seem to distinguish if its pre december or thru december in which the change took place. Any Help? TIA

Rancho makes a 6inch kit now? I thought it was 4? Me personally I'd go with what everyone else has.

Thanks for the help Thumper, Im pretty much set on the Rancho, just because its a tad bit smaller and like Thump said the Rancho comes with Rancho shocks.

I just put on the Rancho kit. People keep saying 5.5 inches to 6 inches but I got 4 inches out of mine. Maybe with the lift and tires it ends up being 6. Rancho reccomends 35x12.50s but i went with my stock wheels and 35x12.50s isnt safe on the OEM wheen for hard use.
It is an excellent kit. I feel very confident driving it. You retain all the OEM drive and steering angles. I went with a pretty mild tire, 275/70/17. No regrets here.
As for the 2 part numbers, I have a really early 04 (made in 03) I didnt specify the year and the kit went on fine.

My Truck was built In Jan 05 so when I bought the Rancho Kit in 05, the New kit number was not out yet. The Brake hoses are mounted in a different location (and longer) on Trucks built AFTER Dec 2004. I had to buy Longer hoses at $50 a pop just to make this kit work. Anyways, to answer your question, if your truck was built in 03 you will need the RS6588 (B for Black or no letter for Red, your choice). Hope this helps.
