Sound Deadening my XLT

Took some tips and tricks from "ChrisAdams" and have started the process on my truck.. 04 regular cab XLT.

I started with the back wall.

1.Pulled the panel off. Started at top and worked my way down and to the middle.

2. Took the panel inside and put a layer of carpet pad over the intire inside of the panel with a hot glue gun. Pretty think stuff too!

3. Then I went outside and put a layer of "Nuprene".. got it off ebay, on the rear wall of the truck. Used spray on adhesive to make it stick..

then I did the driver's side rear, suicide door... I took the panel off and brought it inside and lined it with carpet pad...

Then on the door itself, I took some carpet pad and spray-glued it to the inside of the door shell... as much as I could.. I then dropped a Silica Gel packet in the.. large one, to soak up any moisture if some gets in there. I get them at work..

Then I put a layer of Nuprene on the door outer shell and cut around the speaker.. Then put it all back together.

I didnt do the other rear door bacause Ima wait till Sunday or Monday..

Took the truck for a spin. Truck is not any quieter on acceleration.. Exhaust is still loud as heck... but... While just cruzing.. it is noticeably quieter..

Then I tested the speaker in the rear door to see if it still worked..(lol).. It does.. and It sounds MUCH better now... Sounds loud and deep on the bass... amazing how some carpet pad and insulation makes the speakers sound so much better... stock speaker at that.. I think I'm gonna have to buy some new speakers for back there soon..

Anyways.. Great mod so far.. Thanks Chris and others.

Next step: Front two doors and the floor (back to firewall).

I got 4 sheets of "Nuprene" for $50.. only used one so far.

A approx. 7'X9' piece of carpet pad from lowes for $15
Spray adhesive was $8
I also bought a wall paper roller for about $1.50..

Pretty cheap.. Im content with what Ive done so far..

I just finished doing my all 4 doors too, along with the back wall.

Road noise at highway speed is down some.. around town though, the truck still roars...

Only REAL difference i noticed was that the speakers sound better now... Thats cool.

Overall: Its an "OK" mod.. I might do it over again if I had the chance...
