AirRaid or AF1?

I searched and read the AF1 is pretty loud...almost to the point of too loud. Is the 5-7 HP worth the extra sound over the AirRaid kit? I really don't care about looks..Actually I like the black over the polished look.

Probably the only mods will be exhaust, Troyer tune then later underdrive pulleys and e-fans.

Dave

I took the plunge for exhaust and intake this week. The parts are scheduled to arrive soon. These forums were a big help in searching for the right pieces.

I finally went with the Volant intake and Magnaflow 16612 SI/SO. It was a close race between the AF1 and Volant. I was scared away from the AF1 because of CEL issues as well as it being possibly too loud.

NIETHER!!!! GO WITH VOLANT!!!!! it actually sucks in air from the fender.......not from under the hood like other intakes.....youll get the most out of the volant!

Add to my list an Edge. Just ordered it.

I dont want to tell you just yet to jump on the Volant but, from my research, it seemed like the best design.

Id say AF1 but im kinda partial to it since i have one. I cant say anything for or against the Volant but i know that the AF1 is better performance wise than the Airraid but its drawback is it is louder than the Air raid.
That being said it really is a great intake and the CEL issue has been for the most part resolved with the introduction of a new pipe.
I love my AF1 but i dont think you can go wrong with any of them they will all be better than stock.

OMFG........

I had about enough of these false postings about the AF1. The ONLY reason for CELs was because the "smart" people didn't install it right. I especially LOVE the part for it being to loud....... . C'mon......rofl.

The AF1 just simply provides the best quality based on *fact*.

Oh well, I'll bet you have a "**** on Chevy" sticker....don't lie.

I have the Volant and AF1 air intakes. I had the Volant in for about 4 months. I decided to try the AF1. After having it on for a few weeks I would say go with the AF1. No problems at all, and I love the sound. Both are great intakes. I think what it comes down to is preference. I like the stainless steel design of the AF1. The Volant made a strange vibration at WOT. The AF1 makes for smooth acceleration, and increased throttle response. You can’t go wrong with either one.
