1.5" or 2" AS?

Hey guys with leveling kits or just have a strong opinion about it, need some help.

I've got a AS 2" sitting in the garage with a beautiful matching set of Bilsteins to go with it and I'm itching to get them installed on my FX4 Screw(Have my mechanic already set to install everything for about $150), but I'm getting second thoughts.

It seems to me that the 2" does set the truck level but it could appear higher from different angles. I only want to go with the largest tires I can safely fit on stock 18" so I don't necessarily need more lift.

I've seen the 1.5" and it appears to be slightly less than level, which is how most trucks sit at stock height.

With these thoughts, should I just dang the torpedos and put the 2" on or "trade" it in for a 1.5"?

Is there really that big of a difference for those that have had experience with both?

I appreciate your help as this is killing me.

Get the 2". That's what I've got and it sits perfectly level.

My 2.5" AS leveling kit created a perfectly level bed rail. I am completely thrilled with how it turned out.

I have the 1.5" and it sits level and maybe a tad higher in front. It an FX4...not sure if there are any differences, but it looks good to me. Im even thinking of putting in a 1.5" Add-a-Leaf from Skyjacker.

Angles are good too...perfect in my books for now until I get my Rancho Kit.

Thanks for the pic. This is what I was concerned about, you're truck is level. It's right where it should be. If you put a 2" on, it would be too high. I guess if I'm unhappy with the 2", I could always add a leaf or take it off and put on the 1.5"

Thanks for the comments guys.

tHIS IS WHY IT DOES NOT LOOK LEVEL SOMETIMES.

When the back of the truck is "absolutely level" (using a bubble level to check), the space from the top of the front tire to the bottom of the lip will be 1" taller than the back. Try it yourself and measure yours. What is important is to get the back raised 1" higher to equal the front OR make sure the distance from the top of the tire to the bottom of the lip is equal or less than the back.

Are you one of the lucky "20" that have bought the 1.5 inch kit? After talking to Kevin at Autospring, he has only sold a few 1.5 inch kits because of a lack of interest. The nomenclature of these things is always being confused: The 1.5 inch, 2.0 inch, and 2.5 inch kits are actually 1 1/2 inches, 1 5/8 inches, and 1 3/4 inches thick, respectively. I have the 2 inch kit on mine which is the same truck that you have with the difference in height being 1/2 inch higher in the rear as measured from the ground to the fender well. The only ones that I have ever read about being "higher" in the front are the 2.5 inch spacers as measured from the ground up. I would go with the 2.0 kit.

My 2" is still holding down the kitchen table, just haven't had time to do it. Everytime I read these posts I get nervous the front will be too high, not losing sleep but once it goes on, chances are it'll stay there for good so what will be, will be. Anyhow, I take a look at every 150 I see in parking lots and haven't seen a leveled one in person yet. I look at every pic I can here and it's just too dang hard to tell if the front is higher but a lot do LOOK higher. I'm now wondering if it's just the fender cut out. Could the front opening be larger? I'm too lazy to go outside and trace them out onto cardboard, maybe someone here knows???

On my scab, I did the 2" AS first and although according to the tape measure, the back was just about the same wheel well height as the front, most of the time the way you will park, the front will look higher. The height is great, what a low cost lift when you pair it with the 1.5" add a leafs ! I just did not like the front looking higher so a week later ordered the add a leafs. IMO - much better now. If you have no interest in raising the back and really just want to level it, then stay with the 1.5".

Here is a picture with the 2" AS and the 1.5" add a leaf :

Measured last night, the AS 2.5" kit has all four of my wheelwell lips at 39.5", lip to ground. And the bed rails are still spot-on-level.

How about bilstein with adjust? they comes with stock, 1+ and 2+ inches but it costs a bit.

you can adjust it whenever you want.

I wish i have gone with that kit cuz i only has bilstein stock height on my truck (non adjust)

you can do some search in this forum.

I went with the bilstein set up on my 06 FX4 SCAB raised the front exactly 2". My son put the 1 1/2" AS spacer on his 06FX4 SCAB and it raised his truck 2 1/4" .
