That is all. You wanna fit 37's without a 6" + 2.5" + 3" body + add a leaf, get a CST. 8.5" lift, clears 37's all day long. I know because I drove that truck EVERYWHERE for a couple days. Even took it off road with NO clearance issues. Much safer than stacking all those lifts IMO...

I can just imagine what the axle wrap would be with a 5" block. If it was my truck and I was investing this kind of money in it, I would do it right and have a custom set of springs made by someone like Deaver. That way it will actually be safe and ride good. Cranking up the coilovers will just put stress on your CVs and the CV boots. They won't last very long since since we don't have manual hubs and our CVs are always spinning. Yes the ride will suffer and so will your down travel.

So what was all this talk I kept hearing about the CST lift being closer to 6 inches? If it was, then it surely wouldn't clear 37's easily. So what's the truth?

Thanks,
Chris

Our half shaft DO NOT TURN when the truck is in 2wd, We have IWE's which uses vaccum to disengage the front hubs by retracting the bellows in the IWE's and sliding a ring gear which disconnects the front hubs from the half shafts. On the f150's that are 03's and older their half shafts are allways turn because they lock the half shafts inside the front differential.

I'm not positive, but I think our shafts turn all the time. If my truck is in neutral and I roll it the shafts turn w/ the tires.

If you roll your truck with it in neutral with the motor OFF the halfshaft will turn since there is no vaccum comeing from the motor and the IWE's will be engaged. But if you roll it with the motor running vaccum will be applied to the IWE's and they will be disenged and the halfshafts will not turn. I have read the FORD workshop manual over and over on this matter because my 4wd was kind of iffy.

So engine vacuum normally keeps the hubs disengaged and when it's taken away they engage. I would have guessed it was the opposite because vacuum leaks are not that uncommon and if you get a large enough one your hubs would lock and if you were driving/turning on dry pavement you could cause more damage.

I take your word for it though... good to know. I need to start carrying some vacuum line plugs and a vacuum pump.

The front LCA drop bracket on that top truck doesn't look like the same one pictured in the bottom parts spread... the one installed on the top truck looks "light duty" compared to the all the others I've seen especially Rancho, Fabtech, and RCD.

That is correct, But they don't engage until vaccum gets down to around 5 in or so( forget the correct number, but it is low)

Not sure, but as I stated previously, I drove that truck everywhere and I KNOW it had 37's on it. I know the cleared with no issues, so that would lead me to believe that the CST is closer to the advertised 8.5".

The CST lift is really closer to 8" of lift, I parked next to one, and it was about 2' taller...

Thanks for the replies guys! I wonder where other people on this board got the idea that the CST was actually closer to 6 inches? Good to know...

Thanks,
Chris
