Bolt On Grille For Lariat/How Does It Look Over The Silver/Grey Honeycomb?
I'm thinking of ordering a bolt on billet grille (21 bars) for my 150 Lariat. My truck has the honeycomb grille that is kind of silver/grey in color. I am wondering if the honeycomb grille would show much? If you have one of these bolt on types with this kind of factory grille, or have actually seen some on trucks, I would greatly appreciate your comments. Please don't say it looks crappy if you have not actually seen this setup as I am after some honest feedback. And, as always, thanks in advance.
There MUST Be More Of You Out There With Bolt Over Grills
I'm bringing this up again as there must be more of you out there with bolt over grills who can give me your opinions of how they really look, what type you have, and where you got it. If I don't get more responses this time then I guess I know the answer to my original question. Thanks
I was considering getting a boltover for my Lariat grille. In talking to another owner with a boltover grille, he said you could see it up close, or in direct sunglight. One possibility is to paint you grille black to hide it a bit more.
After alot of thought, I decided to get a replacement. I have a $40,000+ truck, and want it to look good. So I was willing to spend a few extra dollars to make sure the face of my truck is exactly what I want it to be.
But, it also depends on what kind of boltover you get. If you get one that has alot of bars - the more bars, the less you will be able to see your stock grille.
Also, with the boltover, you will still see the border of your stock grille, which I really didnt like either.
I think what it should all come down to is if getting a boltover grille doesn't feel quite right, or you have some reservations on whether or not it will look good, then don't do it - or at least wait until you are sure. I shopped for months for a grille and finally bought one yesterday, and I feel really good about it.

Here's a good shot to help show things better. This is a replacement grille - you can see the radiator behind it. Now imagine a honeycomb grille there and that should give you a better idea
Wow, that Z Grille looks really good on your truck. The only pic I have seen of those is the one in the ebay auctions. I didnt know they shined that much.
